When you start applying real numbers to n, using O() doesn't make sense. When comparing the two in a slightly practical sense, the constant factor has to be taken into account.

Yes, 50% of users, but from various posts with statistics of actual web use, it iOS is still heavily favored. Same can be said about actual app purchases. iOS users seem to use the smartphone more than Android, at least for now.

It wasn't so much of a question of why, but when. I don't think any sane person expected Groupon to stay up there.

Do realize it's not Apple not letting South Africans to buy games. It's South African bureaucracy that's preventing South Africans from buying games. The barrier for entry is too high to justify the ROI for Apple to bother. Otherwise, there

Interesting. It seems like it isn't just a problem with Apple though. I've heard similar stories with Xbox Live accounts, where they won't move accounts between countries. I think there may be some laws/regulations involved which are preven

He did introduce the original Macintosh 17 years ago (1984). Sure, past performance doesn't necessarily mean much, but Jobs has had a hand in so many different areas.

It's definitely dependent on the LCD monitor. I have a TN monitor, which works with the demo page, but on my IPS monitor, the text never really disappears from any angle.

True, but it's the absolute size (in pixels) that matters on the desktop because the mouse (a pixel precise) pointing device is used. This becomes a problem on touch based devices with limited screen real estate where balancing info density

The problem is that desktop computing is based on mouse interaction, and the precision unit is the pixel. On touch-based devices, it is the human finger. The actual physical dimension of the buttons and other UI elements, including spacing,

Apple also provides very detailed human interface guidelines for all their OSes. They are all more than 100 pages long, and describe how every single UI element should act and what the user should expect. When designing a UI using Apple's p

Achieving cohesiveness in such a system will be very difficult though. There's a reason why Apple chose to keep OS X and iOS separate. I do agree that cohesiveness is important to the user experience. It makes me a little disappointed that

Can you provide a little more detail on this? What percentage of users actually use the defaults (for both start and end date), and how many change it anyways? Have you thought about doing some A/B testing on providing a default and not?

I love your site. It easily has the best UI. I knew in the back of my mind that you have the "flexible" feature, as I've seen it before, but never thought about or even bothered to use it, because it just isn't visible enough. It may help t

This is also one of the benefits of Apple's huge cash reserve. They can easily make these commitments and investments as they see fit.

Might also be nice to have a very simple push notification enabled mobile app for active reminders in addition to passive checks via Twitter. It'll be way less actions from a user's point of view compared to email when on the go.

Also, do you plan on adding something like a "confidence radius" for the output? Are there cases where the GPS was not able to return an accurate lock and was only able to give a vague estimate? By the way, very cool app. Looking forward to

Those numbers are a bit off, I believe. The 2-4m is probably devices shipped to carriers, not necessarily devices sold to consumers. Also, considering the number of device activations on Android, this is a drop in the bucket.

Google having more control over Android would make a better UX and platform, but it would not have allowed for Android to take off as it has. One of the key reasons it's selling is because it's not an iPhone. It's open, and comes with all t

An immediate expiry would not solve the initial problem. A user can easily click on the link on an iPhone, then want to read the content on his desktop. A timed expiry would work much better.

There is good reason to not offer alternatives. There will be platform fragmentation, and end up being a worse experience for both developers and users. Devs probably need to publish on all stores to cover their bases, otherwise users need

Left foot braking can be done for very different reasons. First of all, you're probably driving an automatic. It's much trickier to use your left foot to brake when it's also on the clutch. ;) In the context of F1, it allows for less time b
