A lot of the presentation techniques from DICE's upcoming Battlefield 3 borrow very strongly from Mirror's Edge. I was watching a shakeycam video of B3 from last week's GDC and the influence was very apparent. From this interview ( http://w

PAX is more than that. It's a whole other niche. E3 is about the companies. GDC is about the developers. PAX is about the players.

Maybe some folks here with a better understanding of pipes than myself can help me figure out how to do the following using pipes and not a temporary file. I need a minimalist method to format a couple of email headers, append an email body

I've had a serious problem with Gawker sites failing to properly include third-party javascript. Even JQuery. The whole page then fails to load. Definitely how NOT to do things.

When I wrote billing systems for telecoms, Feb 31st was a valid date... after a fashion. Billing cycles were stored as a cycle period "monthly", "quarterly", etc, with a "bill day" offset which was a number 1-31. If your "bill day" was the

Thing is, just jamming on the brakes will stop your car, every time. Your brakes are much more powerful than your accelerator. The problem is when a driver thinks their foot is on the brake, when it is actually on the accelerator. So mash

When I was young(er) a friend cut open a glo-stick and gargled it. "Hey, it says it's non-toxic!" The inside of his mouth glowed for a week. Related: Glo-sticks burst in a shower of (hot) glowing liquid when thrown in a campfire.

That doesn't seem too unreasonable. The actual procedure itself, where the doctor was actually involved with me as a patient, took about 15 minutes.

I'm currently doing full-time development work on a netbook. It's not ideal but it is manageable. It's an MSI Wind running Ubuntu 10.10. Admittedly it's hooked up to an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse. And I upgraded it to 2GB of RAM

This sounds like a generally positive, inclusive sort of resolution, but what greater context does it take place in? I admittedly don't know much about what being a Debian Developer means.

If you have an SSD based on Intel firmware, you can use Intel's TRIM utility on Windows XP as well. This is what I'm using on my gaming PC which hasn't been upgraded in ages, except for the addition of the SSD I installed.
