I think iframes are inferior to the JS approach for a few reasons, one is usability for people with screen readers / etc - others would be standards compliance, bookmarking, managing state when pieces do need to talk to each other, etc

That seems shortsighted for such a traditionally longsighted company. If you sell tents to people who sell fruit, and don't screen the fruit for disease, and then people get sick, they will use other bazaars.

Firefox seems like they respect the user to me. Putting Google, the most popular search engine, as the clearly visible and easily changeable default makes the most sense, in my head.
