How would mom know about the bad reputation? Download.com included toolbars with their installers (not a vulnerability, just shady) and only in rare blog articles were they called out on it. Multiple sites linked to them as a reputable down

Some functional differences may include likely an additional required app for each (more app clutter), more clone products, shoddy knock offs, selling your product far above or below cost, stores without the infrastructure to keep your data

People buy homes where homeowners associations dictate what goes in the yard. They pick schools where children are told how to dress and what they can say. There are whole cities who have kicked out strip joints. Those sorts of choices are

Originally the carriers were terrified of app stores because there would be cell network hacking tools and service disrupting network traffic. A vast majority of malware on macOS now comes from pirate apps stores via torrents. Much of the

So Apple still needs to be responsible for content of third party stores? The stores should require Apple code signing to allow remote shut down and be complaints about items in non Apple stores reviewed by Apple for unscrupulous behavior?

Basically because that 5% is saying the other 95% should never have the option for a device without third party App Stores. It is a small minority trying to dictate what options the majority has available.

If the stated goal is that artists only deserve what I want to pay and there is too much graft and payment friction with conglomerates shouldn’t an ethical fan/pirate site always link to the artists Patreon?

Apple seems to have the position that if a company is going to start publishing apps with non allowed systems once that they will probably do it again with other apps. Epic has had the choice to conform to terms (they were not even losing m

Pop up theatre seems to stop very few non-technical users from clicking allow. This is why so many people get their family iPhones to start with.

Not current numbers but some old projections put 2020 projected android users would be around 127 million users in US. iOS projected 110 million in 2021 in US. Does 50% market share when achieved even equal a monopoly?

Looking forward to a fun new App Store world. Just like streaming services it will fragment to many different subscribed stores, each with their own privacy and sharing policies, for temporary access to exclusive games. Nothing like a littl

I think a good option here would be for Apple to sell jailbroken developer phones for say an additional 30% cut up front and a nice DEV brand on the back for bragging rights. The additional fee hurdle would discourage those who just want a
