You're kidding, right? It's just as important that the State, parents, alumni, research partners etc etc like it too. 18-20 year olds are probably one of the least important stakeholders at a research university.

Which is the problem: it tries to create singular pieces of software, then cater around all the different customers it has. No-one in the software business (with the exception of Google, sort of) is trying to do that anymore. Consumers hate

Microsoft is their own worst enemy. They stymie themselves with the bizarre pricing schemes and naming, confusing consumers (and IT buyers). Much of their problems seem to come from inertia. When Microsoft does wipe the slate clean, it can

One aspect you aren't twigging on is that the monetization strategy is tied to the game design. Even if every game, on average, took in the same amount of money once it hits critical mass, players aren't going to invest in games that their

Many people into serious gaming are not necessarily on the PC platform. The other aspect is that the majority of those that are are buying into the Steam ecosystem. As I said in my OP, I expect those players will follow Valve away from Wind

Honestly, I'm surprised there are still as many Windows OEMs as there are right now. The consumer PC market has cratered since the iPad, and Apple's tactic of getting Macs into colleges is paying dividends now those students are moving into

I'm not sure the credit card will perform a chargeback in this case: it's not that Google is misrepresenting their product or the product isn't being delivered, it's that he's changed his mind. While Google is being extremely uncooperative,

If I was your TA, I would be worried about this. And, unfortunately, I have had senior level students who I've had to dissuade that cut+paste code is not a valid methodology past year 1. They way to think about things is like this: code is

I switched to Arq with Glacier as my "House Burns Down" backup, as I already backup to a Time Machine external drive at home. I'm very happy with it, but of course, I've never tried to get the data back yet.

I was absolutely in the same boat as you: everything was better, but still not able to match iOS. I was happily surprised when I tried out Jelly Bean. The Holo theme is taking hold, Project Butter did really well (although I hear rumblings

Things were dramatically improved with Jelly Bean, which is the first Android release I think really stepped up to the plate with iOS. The little things were, by and large, dealt with. Matias Duarte has done a fabulous job.

LucasArts hasn't existed in any real capacity for the last five years or so anyway, they've just been a licensing house. At least under Disney there is the possibility of finding some talent (unlikely, but possible).

It continues bolstering the idea that Kickstarter is a store and not a prospective revenue builder. It creates expectations for others to follow suit if their projects go similarly. It is a bad idea that comes from a nice place.
