I don't think people are complaining workers are paid too much, but that some markets are distorted by external forces. Let's say you're a company in a field, competing against other companies in that same field. Everyone is

Just a side note, but written passwords are also susceptible to being leaking via photos/videos. I've seen a few cases, including one where a government agency was hacked after a news report where you could see a password written

I disagree. I only have one point of data from past experience (not a backdoor, but working on a potentially unethical system), but I would say most developers know exactly what they are doing, or they know deep down but don't try to c

Yeah, but Apple is in a slightly different market. Quite a few people only want iOS, and in that market they don't have competition. An old Android phone will have to compete with newer ones at the same price point.

Well, actually Qualcomm has 2 years of support, that's why most Android manufacturers also have 2 years usually. They need more like 5/6, but no one seems to be willing to pay for it.

It would be interesting to see if traffic drops by that much, or a significant number of those users keep using your site but with a different browser.

A comparable explosion happened in Toulouse, France, in 2001, estimated at 20-40 tons of TNT. It was also some nitrate storage that blew up. Similar end result, pretty much everything window in the city was blown away, and most of the injur

Do you think it's fair that people that do twice the work are paid half as much just because they're younger? In the case I know (nurses), it's about a nurse taking care of twice as many patients, and usually better. Not tryi

Progression tables are just age discrimination though usually. I've seen it a few times, people with 30+ years of experience being paid massively more than newcomers, and just waiting for retirement. There's absolutely no point to

A somewhat funny story happened at a company I used to work. Due to legal concerns, a product had to be renamed and the sales and marketing team spent weeks looking for a new name. Those teams were basically entirely native English speakers

That has actually started to become a sign for me. Sometimes I'm not really stressed before the interview, and that's when I realise I don't care that much about the job and probably shouldn't go further.

Yeah, they keep proposing things they can't follow through, that's quite weird. The UE relations are a particular sore spot, which they keep dancing around, but no one wants to address directly.

Because it is expensive? Yes, that might be a bad trade in the long run, but history has shown us times and times again that people are bad at evaluating those risks.

The article talks about this slightly, but very long term humanity will need a stable fertility rate and I have no idea how it will happen. If the fertility rate keeps being below the replacement rate, at some point humanity will disappear.

The sentence is a bit weird as well, if every one is having a population decline, then migration cannot be the solution, at least not globally. Maybe he meant every one will compete for migrants, but some of them will lose the game. (Probab

I would tend to agree. I think the issue is the LTS model, it's great for servers, but not so much for users. As the LTS version gets older, most of your software starts to get seriously out of date, so every time you need something ne

With the current measures in Europe? Definitely doable. It's currently mandatory masks in public, keeping distances and washing hands, and no big crowds. Life feels pretty normal over here.

A vaccine in the next couple years is not unthinkable I'd say. If you have a look at the current infection rate in a lot of European (and others) countries, even reaching 50% of the population infected would take decades. So yes, I bel
