The commenter you're replying to is "all in on the concept that Tether is a fraud", not "all in on that the concept of Tether is a fraud". Ie they're talking about Tether specifically, not the concept of fiat-b

It is laid out pretty well in the link you got how it is not pegged to the US dollar (which I don't think anyone claimed either).

If you have an adversarial mindset (which is absolutely healthy) and want to understand it well enough to not immediately come up with counterarguments whose only valid reply is "RTFM", yes, it takes at least 20 minutes. But regar

Yes, and it's tricky to make a smooth UX out of it in a web browser setting but the technology is absolutely there. IIRC we managed to make it server-less (in the true sense) apart from the need of a Namecoin gateway. Typically you wou

You really shouldn't need any server-side at all for something like this these days (thinking about firebase). Webtorrent should be mature enough. We did something similar back 5 years ago for our BSc thesis project, using a DHT and Na

GitHub doesn’t sell product in the same way as your examples. They are a service provider. I’d say different dynamics come in with services (hosting content, providing and managing infrastructure, providing support and maybe even consulting

Not that this addresses your main question, but for most latin script languages you'll be fine with always using the altgr-intl variant of en-us. As for mobile, you can generally find the language-specific ones when pressing and holdin

This! Somehow I feel that the desktop UX model of 90s were actually conceptually much better than what most modern apps are doing and it's a shame that instead of doing incremental improvements on that (sure, it's far from perfect

Maybe this is something that change during the 80s, but my understanding is that the people you are talking about were mainly referred to as "crackers". The demos in keygens and intros were commonly known as "cracktros".

Apart from already mentioned Mattermost[0] and rocket.chat[1], Matrix[2] and their main client Riot[3] is seriously worth checking out. It's a quite ambitious effort for decentralized, federated IM / group communication. There

I'd wager the lack of availability and communication of widely accessible videos were limited mostly by cost of bandwidth. Watching videos over 28k was no joy. In the early 2000s before YouTube, IME it was a lot more about P2P than web
