Sounds a lot like the "security through obscurity"-argument. I was never a fan of it. If we don't research and communicate the dangers, potential issues might slip! We need to be proactive in these things.

I always struggle with these generalizations. People take them too literally. I don't think this is racist or belittling, it's just the impression of the author. I also think these generalizations are possible, because culture imp

Question: I am a student in germany and in my early 20s. When I look back, for example at my summer holidays, we were biking for miles to spend the afternoon at a public swimming pool in a neighbouring village (approx. 40 min bike ride, may

just to chime in. The monty-hall problem is a pure math (probability-theory) and not statistics-excersize, since we know all the probabilities beforehand and don't estimate. It's very important to distinguish between bayesian infe

I am not really sure what this has to do with bayesian vs. frequentists? the bayesian theorem is a mathematical fact. It's true if we just accept some basic axioms. Bayesian/Frequentist divide is also pretty independent from the p

It's always interesting how something monopoly-like makes companies lazy. I am a cs-student with 3 1/2 year old a machbook pro, which I bought when I started my studies. I must say that I am still very, very satisfied, it's h

I am worried that a company as important to the open-source community as github is now owned by one of the major players. I think it really impacts the neutrality of github. If I would compete with microsoft in a certain space, I would real

I don't really think that unsound type systems are wrong, because I think it depends on the role of the types in the programming languages. Typescript, Java etc. don't have that sophisticated type systems and you can just check th
