That top answer is hardly conclusive - it's definitely a possibility, but given the weird choices in the art for the "axe" (bendy handle, not a defined edge at the bottom) - I buy it could have been a yellow paint tube. Nouns

I was using "cable" to mean lines in general (not very clear, my bad) - it's almost all ADSL over phone lines, with FTTC in a lot of places now. The only other big network of physical cable is Virgin who run their own cable n

I'm the UK, the vast, vast majority of cable infrastructure is owned by openreach (BT) because it used to be a government run service. While it's not a general requirement, it is one for them, which in effect means it is general.

I thought I'd answer despite not being the person you asked. I run Arch because it's so bare by default, without an installer. As a power user, the fact that I know exactly how my whole system is wired together and what is there m

Safety is safety for now. Privacy is safety for whenever someone who doesn't like you gets into power. I would argue sacrificing long term safety for short term safety is short sighted. This also isn't just privacy - they want to

Unfortunately, the public doesn't understand this. They just hear someone is "fighting the terrorists" and don't care the policy is insane.

The just bumped to a new version in the newest betas. After Microsoft bought Xamarin those licensing issues appear to have gone, which makes sense given MS's strategy.

I think this is a little harsh on .net core - it is not as feature complete as mono yet, the point you are making is correct, but it's still usable right now, with some allowances and restrictions.

Different shapes make for easier identification without looking at the coin (good for the blind, people trying to find a coin in a wallet, etc...), and are harder to fake. It is also, apparently, a reference to the shape of the old threepen

They aren't devices that connect to your computer. They are standalone things (a little like a calculator) with a screen that shows you a token to type in, like a 2FA app. Works with any web browser supporting a form with a text input.

You are clearly thinking of something else. These things are ubiquitous in the UK now. All the UK banks provide them freely with accounts and it's all easy to use and standard, no plug-ins or craziness, just an HTML form. Picking two a

A quick skim still makes this look much more secure than any alternative I've seen. Sure, it's not perfect, but a lot of those flaws are due to particular implementations, and most apply equally (or worse) to other systems.

Yeah. With fruit or coffee I think it's really nice though. Coffee is strong enough to overpower the taste entirely, and with a small amount of fruit it tastes a bit like a smoothie with a digestive biscuit blended into it - or you can

I'd argue that being dogmatic is a subset of being religious, and the superset of the term "religious" is applicable to the analogy at hand. Of course, if you have a more favourable view of religion than me, you might disagre

Banks here in the UK use your chip & pin based card as a second factor (or rather, as the two factors - the chip you have, the pin you know) - they give you a little card reader that can use the card and pin to provide a 2FA token for l

Case classes can have methods on them, for one - I can see how that might be added to yours, but it'd probably be very awkward syntactically if you wanted different methods on different cases. To me, it also feels like your enum class

Scala gets this right, in my opinion, with sealed traits and case classes. "enum classes" feel like a much more limited option by comparison. Although I'd take either over the status quo to be sure.
