Often times the developers moaning about complex code basically learned if statements and for loops and then were done learning. But we still have to write code that these people understand. It makes no damn sense. Sometimes, sure, people w

I don't find go readable in the slightest, the syntactic bureaucracy is just too high. There is a forest full of code hiding a trees worth of business logic, always. Go is one of the least expressive languages I've ever used.

I hope Nepo can come back from this, a couple of games he has made some incredible blunders (for his level, obviously, although c5 to trap his own bishop in was astonishing) Do you think it was just pressure? He's obviously an incredib

This is development nowadays, hire people fresh out if am eigh week javascript boot camp and everyone has to write code they can understand. Instead of bringing the juniors up, we drag the more experienced guys down to their level. The resu

It doesn't make their experience or suffering invalid. If we are to allow suicide for chronic physical pain, then why not for chronic mental pain?

I solved day 13, both parts, and I'm pretty far from an algorithm wiz, I also never used Chinese Remainder Theorem. Part 1 runs in ~0.5 msecs Part 2 runs in ~2 msecs

Like every year, I feel I'm being lured in by an overly easy day 1. Then somewhere between day 10 and 15, there will be a steep increase in difficulty and I'll tap out for the year. Then come back to the puzzles over the course of

This is just how some places work, unfortunately. We all push to main, no code reviews, no CI etc. Hell, some people here patch things by downloading the live dll, decompile, update code, recompile and stick it back to live...

I'm finding the code snippet colours and fonts really annoying to read. Actually, even the main text on the site with the `blotchy` background is hard to read for me. At least FF reader mode makes it readable.

This is tough when your time at work has to be entered on a time sheet, and any allowance for down time is maxed at five minutes a day. I have to put down 7.5 hours a day, five days a week, and what I was working on for all those hours.
