One thing that bothers me a lot in Linux is font rendering. The default settings in Fedora show a "compressed" font, which makes every label looks horrible, thus Gnome looks horrible. Apart from that, Gnome 3.6 has some interesting new thin

I agree with you, but Jobs always said he wouldn't add HDMI to Apple's laptops because of license fees and rigidity of the standard, IIRC. Jobs never said anything against SD or EC. Though I agree it is useful, I doubt HDMI would make it un

Apple adding HDMI and reverting the Apple TV UI, to me, are already signs of that. What's next? Blu-ray?

I almost would not mind this if I could open files in new programs like the Share feature of Android. This is one of the reasons I dislike iOS and barely use my iPad for anything but comics and web reading.

I think funny that it's easier to dumbi-fy the user instead of creating something worth some like tagging and making metada easier and more useable. EDIT: Also, I think he's referring to iCloud only.

That is an interesting point in all of this, though I don't think open source is the real solution. There are lots of abandoned open source projects lying around.

Indeed. It seems they treat every Mac/iOS app as "theirs", like the are the sole proprietors of the team/software/website and when someone other than Apple acquires/acquhires them they feel betrayed, as if the developers pledged allegiance

I liked the UI/UX. The typography is very nice. I would make the right bar optional and add to it an option to write notes. Thank you Michael, great work!

Indeed. The iPad 3 is here for what? 6 months now? And still websites that use lots of images don't look nice but again, so what? I think the iPad 3 numbers and now retina MBP are so small that the extra work and bandwidth are not worth the

Take a look at Opsview. It runs on top of Nagios 3 and makes you not edit those pesky configuration files and integrates with MRTG. Pretty neat.

Would that mean that the backend would be only MC and the client side would be the V using one of those? Does this question make sense?

I don't understand this JS MVC thingy, what do they bring up to the table? I read Backbone's documentation and to me is a mess of heavy JS programming to achieve something that I don't know what it is. EDIT: How does this mix with Ruby on R

I don't want a "Retina display", I want a true 1920x1080 on my 15" MBP. Apple is trying to impose that density is the same thing as resolution, which is not. A "Retina display" of 2880x1800 is just a "better" 1440x900. Give me the option to

I have an iPad 3 with Paper, Penultimate and Inkflow (my personal favorite) and they are all laggy using a finger or a stylus, so, maybe, the lag comes from the iPad 3 with Retina display?

I still think Windows 8 is the base foundation for Windows 9, much like Windows NT was the base foundation of Windows 2000 and then XP.

It looks like they chose a layout more in line with those of HP, Dell and Acer for the looks of it. Dunno if it's a good thing. After using a Mac keyboard for some time, the extra "PC" keys feel unnecessary, but maybe that's just me.
