Is Windows 8 Microsoft's Mac OS X 10.0?

That just came to me. So many people bad mouthing Windows 8, left and right, but is Windows 8 launching equivalent to Mac OS X 10.0 launching? I did not witness Mac OS X 10.0 launching and all the talking but from what I am seeing, Windows 8 can very well be the breakthrough of a new era of Microsoft's operating systems. The first step is always the hardest, is it not?
