I still use javadoc a lot. I was shocked to see the author complain about it. I have always found javadoc to be one of the best language docs to date. I find myself missing it constantly when I am using other less documented languages and l

Stranded: Left without the means to move from somewhere. If you are stranded on an island, it implies you have no means of return. They have a means, to return on the same capsule. They also could return on another capsule. NASA decided to

I can assure you Butch and Sunny are very happy about getting to spend more time in space. This is also likely their last visit to the ISS. They are both around 60. Older astronauts have gone to the ISS, but if I had to guess they are both

Would it be crazy to make paying crypto ransoms a crime? I feel like it would help the situation, but I'm sure there is something I am overlooking.

I wonder if being near really hot things can hide you from them. Kind of like how flares blind the IR seeker in a missile.

I will throw in a random story here about chat gpt 4.0. I'm not commenting on this article directly, just a somewhat related anecdote. I was using chatgpt to help me write some android opengl rendering code. OpenGL can be very esoteric

The impermanence of law is a different discussion. I was just providing you with the precedent that such a rule would likely build off of.

Its a joke. It sounds like a normal libertarian argument, but on the moon. If you want a more serious answer though, we have multiple treaties and moratoriums on what is, and is not allowed in space and on the moon. They were agreed upon be

I think if we find DNA on mars, it would be pretty trivial to identify if it is terrestrial. There would be some crazy evolutionary divergence by now.

Most of the long term scientific value of the moon sits below the regolith, down to the layers that formed from the collision with earth. There are magnetic features below the surface of the moon that we are very interested in called '

Keeping the tugs is not safe, and it is normal for them to leave when you enter a main navigation lane. At high speeds, tugboats can get capsized due to girding. It kills mariners, and the practice should not be introduced because of a sing

Very, very few bridges have redundant support structures. Also the 737 MAX is a case of how redundancy DOESN'T always solve issues

No, tugs stop escorting the ship when it enters a main navigation lane. It is very dangerous to move at those higher speeds while attached to tugs. Look up 'tugboat girding' if you want to learn about it.

Then things like collisions and tug accidents would be more common, which are a far more realistic risk. Remember, there is 2 way traffic.

Yes, I saw and 'engineer' on the news who said he was supprised it collapsed after the loss of the support... I can't even fathom how you could think the bridge could levitate on one support.
