Maybe the same with some other projects of "programming influencers". The owner has 12k followers on Github, maybe even more on other networks. Those people can post a single announcement that they will do something new, and get l

To be fair, you can also have your own runners for Github Actions, which will not affect your CI minutes. https://help.github.com/en/actions/hosting-your-own-runners/...

It is still unbelievable, that the German government paid 20 Million Euro for these apps. Hopefully the request for details about the contracts[1] will be answered by the corresponding gov agency. [1]: https://fragdenstaat.de

On the one side, locking down the Mac even more would be the worst idea Apple could have because this would push even more users out of their system. On the other side, looking back at the past few years, it is quite possible that they do s

It is explained in the article how it works: "This will implicitly tell the browser to load the CSS file in a non-blocking fashion, applying the styles only to the print context. However, the moment the file arrives, we tell the browse

I am not into Python, but the article lost me before it even started: you are required to install a bunch of compiler tools on your device to be able to proceed. Excuse me? Is this really what hypermodern Python looks like?

I actually tried this, and failed. Gave up after like three hours of trying to wrap my own non-React scripts with that Snowpack stuff. It seems the tool is not capable of handling those simple use cases, which is quite sad.

I too have a day job and develop open software as a hobby. I don't think that I could ever make as much money out of it like my real job, because I don't have any popular projects out there. And... To be honest.. I don't real

I think it's really hard to gather data for this, because aside from a few big projects, most sponsoring and stuff is happening outside of any traceable area, i.e. private people sponsoring other private people for some small software.

I use flat files written in Markdown for various notes. On my Mac I use Ulysses for editing, on my Android phone it's Markor. For bookmarks and long term URL storage there is my open source tool LinkAce: https://www.linkace.

Wanted to ask the same. A lot of tutorials still use RSA but I see no reason to use it in 2020. ECDSA keys are supported since an OpenSSL version from 2013.

One thing you should be very careful about is licensing. If you post photos on Facebook or Instagram, you automatically grant them a license to redistribute the photo and share it with others. And these "others" can include Clearv

Totally agree on that. Popularity is the major factor for selling things. There are so many articles out there about people selling their ebook, making 200k from it and then tell you how to properly write an ebook. It's way easier to

Aside from the stats, which are not really surprising, I still find it very hard to get my head around licensing and I bet that this is the main reason why MIT is used. MIT is indeed the only license that is really understandable. The menti
