The backwards compatibility for games on Linux is being improved. We do have Flatpak[0] which could be used for indy, DRM-free games. Valve is also working on a Steam Linux Runtime[1] which uses Linux namespaces to make older titles work on

It really depends where your techs live. 185k is enough money to pay a 4 person team of highly skilled techs in south-eastern Europe for over one year, for example.

Any specific reason why you aren't using latest Fedora instead of CentOS? If you want to stick with CentOS, I would suggest you try with Secure Boot turned off.

That's all anecdotal evidence. Most people that I know use GNOME 3 which is then followed by Cinnamon and Xfce. I know only one KDE 4 user. If GNOME 3 didn't exist, I wouldn't be using Linux on the desktop.

Do you use extensions? I've experienced this (in Fedora 21 to 23) but since I stopped using extensions, I haven't had a single crash. I usually run one session on the laptop for 5 days straight.
