Who cares just about plain HW specs? Nowadays I also expect the info on whether it supports UEFI booting, whether the firmware gets updates (and if fwupd or not), and if mainline Linux can boot and from what version. Too often these product

Missing: When using "set -o pipefail" you should also catch any non-zero return codes that you want to accept, e.g., "{ grep -o pattern file || true ; } | sed pattern" to let the command continue (if desired) to execute

Actually a nice idea to make lecturers collaborate and share more: Maybe it would help if the website could be used by university courses, e.g., by allowing to overlay custom course infos or modify sections.

I can really recommend weasyprint for (markdown→)html→pdf generation: https://github.com/Kozea/WeasyPrint Things like columns, footers/headers, hyphenation are all easily done with modern CSS.

With (al)pine in contrast to mutt you at least have filtering rules to move a mail to a folder. I hope that this would be added to meli, too - that's the last thing I would consider missing when reading the docs on the website: https:

I'm excited about the UDP support and official support for virtual network interfaces as known from VPNs. The library usage of the new Rust implementation is also great for integration and spinning off Onion Services for your servers o

In general it's not a good idea to forward the keyring just for the purpose of jumping to a next machine. If the first machine is compromised someone may get access to your private key. For mere jumping, you should use "ssh -J jum

I think the proposal process works very well to modernize the distro and drive forward the improvements of the default installation, while in Debian the teams seem to do their own thing and innovation is very slow and even controversial (e.

ZPAQ is the name of the tool but ZPAQ is also the name of the container format that gets used. ZPAQ embeds the decompression algorithm in the archive. One could store zstd-compressed blocks in ZPAQ archives as soon as a zpaql decompressor e

They could have named Ampere and give credit to them, I think it's common in cloud instance offerings to have AMD or Intel also being named as underlying physical CPUs, even with the generation.

It's quite light on details: What properties does the (virtualized) ARM CPU that one gets have? Can it do KVM itself (meaning the underlying real CPU has support for nested KVM)? Can it do ARMv8.3 pointer authentication?

Yes, automation with IPMI can be done (for a particular hardware due to quirks), and I recommend doing it (and I have done it) with a separate DHCP environment for the BMC NICs to be at least agnostic about the OS NIC's network environ
