Looks like it isn't on the android play store though? Any info on this? Play tells me there is a version for a prior version of android, which is won't let me install. Not helpful...

Not just the first AGI, but the book deals with a (very) hard-takeoff scenario of the singularity. The AI, Prime Intellect starts recursively increasing its capabilities and things rapidly spin out of control. This is actually a small par

May I suggest you check out the game "Turing Complete" https://turingcomplete.game/ It sounds like it may be right up your alley. Its a simplified digital logic simulator, you make basic circuits from NAND gates,

Yes, I think you are correct in reducing the argument to its basic factors. Yep, its fucked up. However if we’re going to talk about moral responsibility for vaccine mandates, we also have to consider moral responsibility for non-vaccinati

I ran the 26B model on my i5 which has no discrete graphics card. It ran about 7 tokens/sec, and appreared to be a very capable model.

That is not how orbital mechanics work. It may seem counterintuitive, but if something in orbit gets a push that isn’t strong enough to make it totally escape orbit, it will stay in a new elliptical orbit. That new orbit will pass through t

I read a quote somewhere that said democracy does nothing to promote good leadership. The point of democracy isn't to elect a good government, the point is to quickly get rid of a bad government

Hard disagree. Hacker news is IMO a niche community anyway, and I'd say the crossover between people who built their own PCs 25 years ago, during the golden years of overclocking and hacker news readers is pretty huge actually. If you

I'm in the same boat, except my first and last name are fairly common. My gmail account is not my primary email address, and to be honest I don't know if I could manage making it my primary because of the amount of rubbish I get.

Freedom of speech is a very nuanced issue. Taking a black and white approach is problematic. The classic example, is can you shout "Fire!" in a crowded cinema? Should this be illegal in itself? Probably not. But if this causes a
