Not entirely. With GrapheneOS, google play services and any other google apps have the same level of control over permissions as any other app. So you can deny access to any features that you don't want it to have access to. Others in

I think Graphene spoofs the most basic level of Google's security thing but they never wanted to spoof anything higher because it would just turn into a cat and mouse game that they would eventually lose. They recommend that app develo

Indeed, I suspect this wikipedia page has been astroturfed, or at least is lacking prominent messaging that these are only for show nowadays (perhaps always were?)

I went down the rabbit hole of trying to find the best binary JSON-ish format a couple of years ago, it's very interesting to compare their different design choices. Having read the specification, this looks to be a fresh and minimalis

YouTube seems to have gotten confused and marked this as "for kids" which disables commenting (and weirdly also adding videos to playlists)

I think I've seen a Minecraft client reimplementation that runs in the browser, can't remember what it's called though

What's interesting is that the Minecraft netcode is so bad that your client physics doesn't even need to be accurate or even correct for it to work. There is no verification that the client's inputs actually match the player&

It's weird that keyboards before this just didn't have a key there. No one looked at the almost entirely contiguous main block of keys and thought "huh we could put another key in that gap"?

I have a port of this running on my 3ds. Terrible load times, amazing performance considering the hardware. Pretty funny.

It's not immediately clear to me whether they're planning to federate with the existing ActivityPub-based network (hard to sat whether they would be accepted) or something based on their own protocol (which probably wouldn't

There are ways of putting graphics on screen without requiring users to have WebGL enabled/supported. I think my mobile browser has it disabled for security.

I'm a big fan of this idea and the language looks nice as well. I hope the project sees success

Wow, these are pretty nice, with a permissive license too by the looks of things. I like the serif one in particular, very readable to me.

I have a love/hate relationship with that song . I hate it because some guy used to play it on repeat on a server-wide radio on an old Garry's Mod surf server I frequented... On the other hand, I love being reminded of those times

All metaverse articles and marketing is so weird to me because people have been doing this and much more for years in VRChat. It's far from the perfect platform but it's where real people actually hang out, unlike the metaverse.

My guess is that your question isn't seen as relevant to the post (it's more of a general Android topic) and it has an ad for your failed submission which could be seen as manipulation, which is highly frowned upon on this site. T

Honestly the most appealing thing for me is the seven years of software support. The Pixel 5 support leaves a lot to be desired, given that I don't even want to upgrade from the hardware. The demo video of their AI photo editor was kin

I would bet that it doesn't matter for 99% of scripts. By the numbers, Godot's primary use case so far has effectively just been game jams.

What I find more interesting is the guide they wrote on how to make use of the vault itself, intended for people far in the future. I think it's also mostly marketing crap but there is some substance to it. https://github.co

Somehow I can't find a source for this but it's well known that Go prefers compilation speed over runtime performance. Doesn't help that they implement the entire compiler stack themselves so it definitely misses optimisation

I tried a few times to get a good "donkey kong thumbs up" emoji but the results didn't make much sense (spritesheet-like, missing any kind of thumbs up). Most of them did contain Donkey Kong, in some weird AI-deformed way.

For the web and other use cases where it is embedded in another program (e.g. sandboxed plugins, other places where Lua or similar would've gone previously), I think yes. But I really don't see something like WASI or WASM servers
