And that warrants low-effort snark and jokes polluting these threads? There are still good discussions here, but they get muddled by all this nonsense.

Yes, that's certainly an odd argument. Why would I do that when I'm happy with the service I'm paying for? Especially when it's the best way to support the creators I enjoy, since they get a much bigger share of revenue

And yet, when YouTube cracks down on adblockers, people on here get outraged instead of just paying for Premium. Everyone keeps saying "just let me pay" but when the option exists, it seems like most still avoid it and stick to co

This is not unique to AI. People simply don't care about your stuff. Ask any regular artist or game developer.

No, thanks. I have no obligation to do that and if it lags you can always just close the page.

Anyone downvoting this should know that other YC companies endorsing a product launch is a certified HN classic, and by downvoting it, you're violating a long and rich tradition.

Not true. I gave it a few documents and webpages of things I'm interested in and it was surprisingly engaging.

It used to be IRC channels on Freenode and I didn't see anyone complaining back then.

That sounds almost like the complete opposite of my experience and I'm also working in a big Rails app. I wonder how our experiences can be so diametrically different.

You're getting downvoted, but I agree with your last sentence — and not just about AI. The amount of negativity here regarding almost everything is appalling. Maybe it's rose-tinted nostalgia but I don't remember it being lik

I would never have imagined hackers becoming copyright zealots advocating for lawsuits. I must be getting old but I still remember the Pirate Bay trial as if it was yesterday.

It's obviously fine not to be into fashion, but if you're not, you shouldn't go around making judgment calls or confidently and incorrectly saying people wouldn't wear something for fashion reasons. It’s revealing in the

Thick rims like those are considered high fashion right now. It's the opposite of goofy and says a lot about the audience here that you're all oblivious to this fact.

I don't notice any latency whatsoever. If you're not exaggerating and are genuinely experiencing "brutal" latency, then something is definitely wrong with your setup.

I haven't worked in a single company where it wasn't easy to game any metrics. The only effective countermeasure to people slacking is having eyes watching them.

I think it's about productivity. Maybe not for you or me but if you're on TikTok you've probably seen the 'quiet vacations' trend, where kids learn how to fake working in their remote jobs. This is why we can't

Who cares what they think? In fact, the fewer who uses this the better for the ones that do. It's not in my self-interest to convert anyone and I obviously don't need to convince myself when I have the result right in front of me.
