It's definitely not a "way way better tool" and no serious game developer would say that. Everyone agrees that Godot has a lot of catching up to do but we're still using it because we believe in the foundation and what i

Local logging doesn't help much for searchability when you're new and it requires you to be online 24/7. Anyway, that's beside the point. Even if IRC had built-in server history it still has the same problems but I never

It looks nice and has been a staple in hacker culture for decades, long before we had rich text and were just chatting on IRC.

No-one complained when projects had IRC channels/servers, which are even worse since they have no history at all.

Sounds like we're talking about different kind of safeguards. I mean stuff like a character in a game ending up in a broken case due to something that is theoretically possible but very unlikely or where the consequence is not worth th

I don't think it's that clear cut. I personally think the AI often delivers a better solution than the one I had in mind. It always contains a lot more safe guards against edge cases and other "boring" stuff that the AI

To make money, but it's not that I don't trust the technology. It's more that I don't trust myself. Maybe I wrote them down incorrectly or did some other mistake? I also once lost the paper after moving (but found it aga

Managing your own keys is stressful. You go around worrying that the hardware has failed or that the seed words won't work. Never again.

Thanks. I have it on but I had the window open for a while and went into the profile of one which then longer had any comments so I guess they removed it themselves.

The issues differ wildly between Android and iOS and often a fix for one device, OS and browser breaks something in another. It's not easy. Also, not everyone has access to an iPhone or a Mac with a simulator, and even the simulator ha

While I disagree with the parent I personally think Discord is great. I've been on IRC for over 30 years and Discord is what I always imagined IRC 2.0 would be like.

How is that relevant to the comment you're replying to? Strange choice for a generic rant against the term.

You should at least admit that this is an American problem. No-one in my family has a driver's license and it's not an issue whatsoever. There's very little reason to own a car in a society with a functioning public transport

Just want to point out that the flow you're describing is not that noteworthy and has been doable in many instant text-to-app services for at least a year, and doesn't really include any of the points that OP highlights as the USP

Yeah, I'm baffled that people on HN will happily accept pretty damning conspiracy theories at face value when there are much more plausible explanations available. My app is also having performance issues with WebGL on Firefox so I gue

I can only speak for myself but AI has had a profound effect on my coding. I really can't imagine going back and search engines and API docs are not even in the same ballpark. I wrote a bit on why here: https://news.ycombina

Coding is one area where AI has been successful. This is about other areas where AI has been unnecessarily inserted. You're misdirecting your Schadenfreude.
