All that on one machine? I hope it doesnt go down and you lose your entire company. You should have several redundant instances. You also breezed over the license costs for VisualStudio, Windows Serer, and SQL Server.

While I don't doubt the findings and won't argue the results, a group of 26 people is hardly a study. Give us the results of 260 or 2600 people, from different backgrounds.

I was put off just in the new BBM, where some options were hidden under the left swipe menu, other the right swipe menu and yet more under the top swipe menu. Not to mention options hidden under the button bar at the bottom. I don't want to

Unnecessary or poorly planned meetings are probably the biggest interruption here. God-forbid the pre-meeting meeting. I tend to stick to small, mundane work until a part of the day where I can focus for while. You can get more done instead

There is no story here. They donated money and had it run through PR to get the right amount of public impact, like anyone would do with that amount of money.

Great stuff. We used message queues when rewriting major components from an ancient VFP Client heavy application to newer C# code running on an application server. It enabled both asynchronous work as well as ordered operations.

Yep, this started as an app on WP7 from MSR. You could download and share various scripts/apps. The app was a little clunky but neat.

Even from Windows7, I've been using the Office web apps via my SkyDrive almost exclusively. No real issues that I've run into and I think most people should be doing that on a Surface(Poor messaging by MS). The full Office is there for powe

Times are tough, but I sure hope not. First to 64bit, first to multicore x86, first to on-chip memory controller, first to APU. We need them to keep pushing the envelope. I'd love to see AMD at a 22nm process with Intel and then compare the

If they are going to refocus on music, they need to make some kind of acquisition to make us care. SoundCloud maybe?

"Sealing the chain" as you say, is indeed important for scenarios such as lookups within a loop. If you haven't .ToList()ed your lookup LINQ var, you will be requerying with every iteration. A simple change that can slow down code dramatica

For WP7 users out there, there is a FOSS app, Trellizzo, that works pretty great. https://bitbucket.org/JakeGinnivan/taskboards http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/apps/8d58efa1-1852-461c-80...

I do know that design tools like blend support multiple layout views for different screen shapes and orientations. I can't see how this would be different. Underneath if you write .Net code it'll run on both.

It didnt used to be the case and it can be reassuring to users that they are getting a decent quality browser and not a hack. Especially for users coming off the Blackberry and Symbian platforms. So, I think its fair to say.
