I was wondering about this the other day, is PasswordAuthentication no really that necessary if a strong password is used? Honestly, being a private key screw-up away from never being able to log in again scares me a little.

I'm curious if an app like this could have gotten traction if it wasn't put out by a shop like Fog Creek. In other words, if some guy built this in his basement, would anybody have noticed, no matter how great?

The worst I've gotten from a recruiter was just a few days ago. All it was was an email with the subject "Please call me right away thanks", and the message only contained his sig, including his phone number. This is bad in so many ways I

I agree. These are companies that just duct-tap together high tech, made by others. High tech companies are IBM, Intel, Sun, Oracle, etc, and those are firmly planted outside cities. A good rule of thumb is if the company consists mostly

I would like to see minority upvotes weighted in some way to avoid mob rule. However I'm not sure of the math of this, or how it could be gamed. But I do know, if a story or comment gets 10 upvotes and 90 downvotes, I want to be given the

So are you saying that absolutely nobody that can do the job has applied? Or have you turned away qualified applicants because they aren't a "cultural fit" or properly credentialed? I'm betting on the later.

The fact that Clickpass even exists made me realize openID was DOA. I spent a day implementing openID for the users of my website, because I realized, hey, what a cool idea, a URL can represent a single user on the internet, and that user c

Its going to cost me some karma but I have to agree with you. Really fluffy content, almost has a self-help feel to it. Don't get me wrong, its as worthy as most blog posts to be on the internet, but getting submitted to HN and being a to

Grocery lists don't help you figure out what you need to put on that list, that's why it often fails me and why I created a list with "tags". Maybe I'm the only one, but its already helping me to not forget things.

Thats interesting. My first 4 or 5 attemps had a checked item disappear (actually animated it to go back to the main list). Then I found myself accidentally checking items off by mistake and being annoyed I couldn't recheck them easily.

A single exception doesn't mean your right. You might not require a CS degree (I see a lot of shops starting to give up on that, but its still common), and hopefully you don't discriminate (3 guys, all about the same young age right?), but
