I would like to show my project Generated Pixels. In my spare time I like to write scripts and algorithms that create pixel art. I've now created real artworks that your can acquire for your office or home. I wrote algorithms that crea

What archetype can we attribute to someone categorising their colleagues into some pseudoscientific archetype? This is an extremely toxic way of dealing with other people and should be avoided. People are much more than a stereotype.

We use a variant of Gitflow without a develop branch and without release branches. Gitflow has 2 major problems: - develop branch that will always become a mess over time - release branches are never completely accepted. It is much easier t

A lot of websites these days are "build to last", but that is almost always a sales argument with very weak evidence. It just sells well to the client because they think they buy something for the future. And every agency or freel

Working part-time has become very accepted here in the Netherlands. And that is not only women but more and more men started working part-time now. Especially 32 or 36 hours is very popular.

I worked in the same IT company for many years now and wile it's true that many people have experienced burnout and had time off. It really depends on the situation if they come back or not. In the Netherlands they have to offer a perm

I've estimated dozens of projects over the years and in my experience the more you split it up the more the total estimate is going to be. You can even use this a tool to get more budget/time allocated to your project. Break it u

Don't forget the sanity check at the end. If other people also add a lot safety hours then you will end up with an inflated estimation that is hard to sell.

I think this whole x hours per week system is completely flawed. If I can deliver the same amount of value in 20 hours, why would I have to work for 20 more hours and all profits go to my boss and nothing to me?

Yeah, but what if you shove some other language/problem in front of them? Will they still be 10x more effective than another developer? I don't think so. My point is that you can become very good in a specific area so much that yo

I think the 10x developers are a myth if you compare the whole output versus another developer whole output. But it is very common that a developer can fix a problem or build something 10x or even 100 times faster than others. Simply becaus
