Seems a bit pointless to complain that a language based on the notion that "There Is More Than One Way To Do It" offers too many choices on what to use.

Probably you'll find that the majority of hackers started with computers before they were 18. It's not so much that this is a requirement as it is a fact that unless a person starts in fairly early with computers they won't have developed

If a friend offers to let you stay with them as happened in your case, that is one thing and they are being generous. You have a good friend there. However, when you post to a public forum asking strangers for a place to stay while you're

Big corporations that have software everyone wants to use can treat their paying customers as beta testers. You know this drill as Microsoft pioneered the practice a long long time ago.

ThinkPads are/were nice. I've been a bit concerned about reduced quality since Lenovo took over from IBM, though admittedly I haven't seen any problems with the newer Lenovo machines I've had to work with that would justify such concerns.

With Perl, this is a pretty reasonable assumption to make. If you can think to do it, usually the interpreter will handle it in some reasonable fashion. How, I don't know. But it's one of the reasons that Perl has a reputation as a write
