I don't remember all the little details, but it was the year I started to actively avoid anything they touch, starting with their search engine. I think the main concern was the privacy nightmare.

Yes, didn't catch on. Wii had terrible attachment rates, meaning people bought a Wii and Wii Sports or something and then nothing else.

You say that, but you got a Chromebook despite everything Google did in the past. If people had gotten any message they'd have abandoned Google back in 2008.

A random one makes you unique and thus identifiable across sites.

I don't expect them to make any better decisions years later. Unless given the opportunity, how are you supposed to grow up?

Not forever, just for 200-500 years.

Included in that price must be a PC that can handle VR, though.

If I could pay $200 to get the full experience, I'd already have paid. I can't, so I haven't. Unless they can get the price for the whole package including a game to below $500, it won't reach the masses and unless they

In China they build entire skyscrapers within days, by working on it 24/7. Apparently it's possible to switch out workers. We don't build buildings that fast over here, because reasons. I'm wondering if our computers ain

Why couldn't we have computers as fast as today a decade ago. What's different now and why couldn't we have gotten there faster.

I always wondered if we could get more powerful computers faster if we worked on it 24/7 and if not, why not.

I'd describe it as a learning experience. If you don't get opportunities to grow up, you stay a child forever. Having said that, I wouldn't allow anyone younger than six to watch anything on a screen anywhere.

These days, I'm doing all my editing with image-magick from the commandline.

Doesn't explain why the paper plane glides, though. I was always frustrated in physics class. There just wasn't enough precision to describe reality and everytime a test said "ignore friction" I would mentally shout out

It's pretty straightforward to motivate people. You just have to make that what you teach them has value that they can use immediately. For example, to motivate someone to train in self-defence, just beat them up every week. Now learni

If your model can't be used to predict things in reality, then what good is it? If I throw a feather down from a rooftop and then I let a brick fall down, the brick will hit the earth first. The heavier thing falls "faster".

"Large list". There are only Google and Bing. There are no other usable search engines that do the search themselves. (Though, I guess a few days ago there was news about a third search engine trying and kinf of working.)

Pocket really isn't the problem. Mozilla only has made bad decisions since 2011 without ever learning from any of their many, many, many mistakes.

What's the point of switching to DDG, though? Under the hood it's just a combination of Google and Bing, isn't it?

I trusted Wikipedia until I've read articles for which I knew aobut the topic beforehand, too. Now.. not anymore. Pretty sure the crazies with lots of times on their hand have won the editing wars.
