Yep, that. Such feeble excuses. Ach, well, for our part we really tried hard to help them find a way, so at least we're not loaded down with guilt on top of all the sadness.

Parents could have moved to SF, just sayin’ ETA: One set of parents could have moved from east coast to west. They had enough savings and could have found a modest place in a nice peripheral location. We had good SV jobs and would have help

I’m seeing that too. Results don’t match the artist at all. Also, the names at the top are alpha by firstname, and all the Japanese artists are bunched up at the bottom.

OP: Released just before the start of the invasion but remains completely relevant and helps explain the current “referenda” and annexation events.

My understanding is that a refresh rate high enough to make typing bearable wipes out the energy saving advantage of e-ink, and that ghosting would be excessive. Has anyone used one of the e-ink monitors? What’s that experience like?

This is the same analytical problem with geoengineering climate change mitigations. Unforeseeable consequences while underway and when it stops.

Agree! I didn’t get to pick the fridge, but I did get to pick the cooker, and it’s got dual convection ovens, ftw. The cracklings, the bread crust, the baking soda roasted potatoes, all winners. I’m looking for a US-style toaster oven. Hard

Yep, the Samsung failure is very well known… once it fails. I swear I looked at reviews beforehand, but they change models and otherwise obfuscate, whilst the other decisionmaking party gets fixated on the damn deli drawer, which, I have

Yeah, I’m leaning that way. Other single-purpose devices have been successful - rice cooker, sodastream, slow cooker, etc. Time for a Dr. Pete and a reckoning.

The ice maker in my Samsung refrigerator has failed. Too late, I now know this is common for the brand. The part costs £100 ($100). The fridge was kind of expensive, with a deli drawer, French doors, etc. The refrigerant line for the entire

Clueless here. What sort of “personal archiving” are you talking about? Like Evernote? I’ve only ever used archive.ph to facilitate sharing articles without worrying about links changing (looking at you, BBC).

“amount of air” Is it more air than, like, a tuba, or whatever would be a more familiar so-low instrument? Would it be cheating to add an assist like on a bagpipe? What about mechanical airflow like a compressor or air conditioning vent?

In my experience, if the beef is fresh, high quality, and the right cut, grind and fat content, all it needs is salt on the surface at the time of cooking. The salt mixed into many pre-made patties makes them increasingly rubbery the longer

Isn’t it their stated goal to “solve” the major “problem” of the environmental impact of meat production? In a way, it’s like the debunked story of the expensive NASA space pen versus the cheap cosmonaut pencil. Of course, the facts of that

Should it even be a tech product? What’s the mass market business model for “pretty good, minimally processed, reasonably healthy, low cost burger alternative”? Institutional? Workplace? Schools? Prisons? Dollar store frozen food section?

Totally agree. I think the fake meat people are too worried about the taste, not enough about the cost. As a small incremental expense, a veg burger has to be a lot cheaper than a meat burger for people to choose it consistently. The tast
