That’s still the fault of the package developer. “^1.2.1” means “any version with a public API compatible with 1.2.1”, or in other words “only minor versions”. The whole point of semantic versioning is to guarantee breaking changes are expr

I think the NSA was rather asking him if there was a backdoor. A phone call will always be cheaper and faster than bruteforcing [current decade] cryptography.

I don’t either, but thankfully it’s not forced syntax. If you prefer “print x” to “print(x)” you’re OOL in 3.x.

I couldn’t care less about support for libraries and builtins. If my boss came up to me and said “Hey, I think we should use this Python 3.x library”, my response would be “Great, let’s use Python 3”. That said, I understand there are certa

I've never noticed the "quadratic" build time increase you mention, so I did a test[0]. Files in size from 1mb to 50mb, 3 trials each. These are the results, and they look absolutely linear[1]. [0]: https://paste

I just bought a few lighting-to-3.5mm adapters and leave them permanently affixed to my various headphones. Seems like a simple fix, versus perpetually being upset that I can't use my headphones on my iPhone.

Even the most basic xor "encryption" would use virtually no power. Define a key and xor all data coming in with it. Given the slow refresh rate of these things, it would provide sufficient security against a bruteforce.

I wear a similar minimalist wardrobe in a place with -40° winters. My winter outfit is the same as summer, plus thermal undergarments and a good coat/gloves/hat. It’s surprising how well layering works.

You can write extremely safe code in any language. Python isn’t even a bad choice (compared to other dynamic languages) because you can at least get static type checking via type hints.
