AVR chips are among the worst for power consumption. An Atmega328p will draw ~24mA at 16MHz. Compare that to an Atmel SAM-L that draws ~400uA (0.4mA) at the same 16MHz, and is on a 32-bit Arm Cortex platform.

Too resistive. Copper, silver, and gold are used because they have very low resistance. Having high resistance in the traces makes anything more complex than a few low speed components not practical.

How about Sublime Text? That’s mostly my use case. Opening giant files that VSCode can’t, Ctrl-F a regex expression, selecting all matches, and pasting them into a new buffer. Like a visual interactive grep. Sublime handles big files pretty

Here’s a cool video that shows how compilers optimize exponentiation[1]. It seems like a really simple problem on the surface (x^3? Just do x x x), but lots of smart people have thought hard about the best way to do it for any arbitrary exp

There’s a ridiculous amount of of FUD from the industry (at both/all ends). It’s a Catch 22. You need infrastructure before people will invest in infrastructure. You don’t want to invest the millions/billions in the wrong one, so

Since “tank” isn’t a unit of measure, I suppose anyone could trivially break the record with a larger tank. From the article: > The Nexo consumed 6.27kg of H2 For comparison with the other production H2 cars: Toyota Mirai: 5.6kg Honda Cl

I once had an old iPod with 128kbps MP3 copies of my FLAC library. I reencoded everything as 256kbps AAC audio (double the bitrate) and noticed the battery life went way up. Turns out those devices had better hardware decoding for AAC.

That’s like saying “no video nitrates over 10mbps will have noticeable improvement”. It’s definitely true if you’re watching, say, Khan Academy. Switch it to a fireworks show and watch the quality suffer. 320kbps MP3 just means the codec al

I’m concerned with the performance. It’s up to 16x slower than native Python, which we already know is 100x(?) slower than native code. So roughly 1600x more clock cycles are consumed than is necessary. I’m already jaded with the extreme bl
