Electric dryers are also a huge environmental burden due to electricity consumption. I don't remember the exact numbers, but I think electric dryers require many power plants worth of electricity. In many parts of the world, air drying

Trying to read while the page is animating is really distracting. I would close it without reading.

Thanks for the tips. I put them in a file, because I saw someone using ed last year in a script and started looking at ex from there. diff -e file1 file2 > ed_script Using echo (along with your other suggestions) is probably bet

Thanks for that tip. I've used ex for similar things when editing hundreds of files. This example searches each HTML file in a directory for a line with a string and then deletes a number of lines: $ echo "g/search stri

I recommend reading the whole article. Things are busy at work today, but I'll check it out when I have some time. If you could point me to a shorter clip within the almost 2 hours video, I will be more likely to look at it.

A Marcus Aurelius quote changed my life when I was a teenager. It was something like, "it is not dying that a man should fear, but a man should fear never having lived at all." From that point, I pushed myself to live -- got serio

That video helped me get Org Mode working in a usable way. It's worth spending a weekend on setting it up, especially capture templates.

An additional tip: tune all the strings to the A string, not to each other. If you tune the B to the high E and then the G to the B, and so on, then each small mistake throws the rest of the strings off by increasing amounts. It's good

I do that every day with uMatrix[1], only overriding hosts when needed. I also turn off all CSS animation with Stylus.[2] The Web is becoming unusable without that. [1] https://github.com/gorhill/uMatrix [2] https:&#x

Another simple way to get started is to make no-knead sourdough bread that is cooked in a Dutch oven. I used to make that regularly (before quitting all flours and wheat), and it's great. You use less starter and let it rise longer. Th

Maybe it's the repetition during memorization that allowed me to understand what the poets were doing with meter and enjambment. I'm mostly interested in iambic pentameter and heptameter: Shakespeare, Spenser, Arthur Golding, Geor

You can use what you need and replace the rest. Or use Flask or something else. I'm not arguing for one or the other, but just mentioning that you don't need all of those mentioned conditions for Django.

I don't think the keyboard could be described as a limitation. It gives such precise control over editing that you can look at a file and then perform complex edits without looking at the screen. The mouse is probably an afterthought b

Google is ruining its products with Material Design. The animation is not accessible for people who have difficulty with visual motion. There needs to be a way to turn all animation off. It's bad enough already and keeps getting worse.
