I had the exact same idea a few months ago! Google home is such an uncustomisable waste of time. I ended up getting a 7.5 inch display from waveshare. What I want is to know when the trains from my nearby train station leaves. So I pulled t

Is Oracle cloud any good? Is it like the other providers where you can take a credit card and use? Or do you need to give your soul to oracle?

That article told me nothing useful. Honestly it seems like a clone of docker selling the slight advantage of root less. Which docker already does. I don't understand why I should care that it's a Daemon. In fact that blog post sa

I feel like I've gone back in time to 2013 reading your comment. What was wrong with unity? Plenty of people preferred it. Also Mir was ill-advised back in 2013 and was dropped in like 2017. Wayland has been around as long and is only

I've not used Snap, Flatpack, Appimage and all the other types of app packaging tools before. What are the benefits? Are they effectively like bundling an application with all its dependencies? Is it a way of running "native"

Okay: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=nvidia-n... Looks like the open source Nvidia driver is horrible trash. And seems like the most supported cards are the 600/700 series which are very old. A

Do you honestly believe that Windows update works like that? Windows 10 came out in 2015. And has had twice yearly updates since then. Perhaps then I should compare Ubuntu 14.04 to Windows 10 today. Really? What GPU? Free or non free driver

Sure. But it's not helpful to say that. If someone says the police are especially bad towards the homeless, saying that they're bad to everyone just belittles and says that the concerns of the homeless aren't important.

Here's the thing. I would run: Ubuntu, Debian, Centos or Red Hat on my laptop, desktop and also on any server that I run. I wouldn't run any small distro in AWS.

So you contact people's friends, family, colleagues, and random contacts saying: "This person you know is too poor to pay their credit card bill, can you pressure them into paying it?" Damn. That's a new level of crazy.

The SoC (Tegra X1) was released in 2013. The Switch came out in 2017. So it's not really that new. Also Nvidia has failed to sell it to the tablet/mobile market.
