Usually if everyone around you would say you're one of the happiest people and you think you're also one of the saddest you are depressed. "Happiness has nothing on the overcompensations for misery" - Huxley If you'

I would argue that when Huxley said that realising all is each is all he didn't intend you to lose your ego. In my opinion he intended you to realise that there is power in the self and that everyone has a self and therefore there is a

Of course technology made us who we are today.

I didn't mean to imply that all technology is "dehumanising" but I'd argue that most if not all that influences you has done something to your humanity/technology balance. Fully human being is very hard to explain.

I think the more that technology influences our decisions the less human we become in our actions. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing but that we are definitely diluting our humanism with other stuff.

Sure. I wouldn't say the decisions they influence affect our humanity a great deal though.

I disagree. Human beings as you say are products of their circumstances and one circumstance that seems very pervasive is technology. We are no longer fully human beings. Technology had changed what it is to be human even in Huxley's t

I've studied this quote a lot and I do think it's very hard to realise who Aldous is talking about, but I don't think he's talking about those in distress. Rather those that gave in to this world and can live with willfu

There's no good way of combating it that doesn't end in war. Sanctions will lead to more Chinese public support for that war. Perhaps this leads the CCP to become complacent and fight us before they can win. That's probably t

Acidity will increase if there is more carbon. Ocean acidity is believed to be behind the greatest marine extinction we know about. 90% extinction iirc.

Hand washing is a must. German studies have found people infected each other passing salt shakers and lighters. Whilst we can't tell what vector the virus took, the lighter incident happened outside AFAIK, so likely it was from hand co

I think as a civilisation we should be putting 20% of global resources into energy research. Every leap we've made has been preceded by increased energy. Whether that's the tools that allowed us to be more efficient with energy wh

Without Britain I don't think Germany would be required to transfer resources from ship building to the land campaign. As far as I'm aware Wilhelm was very serious about developing a navy and they were fairly close to parity with

Britain joined to stop Wilhelm making a blue water navy that could rival the royal navy. I don't think it's a given British hegemony would have lasted as long without joining ww1.

I'm sorry but the Uyghur birth rate in Xingjiang has dropped 83% year on year. The Uyghur people are being exterminated and you're more interested in a conspiracy about who is behind us caring about it. FYI you don't have a d

I wonder if the limiting fact to cargo capacity is weight or volume. If it's weight then perhaps the additional freight offsets those costs rather than saving fuel.

I read something recently that gave the impression browsers didn't allow this and they could only modify the clipboard? I'm not saying this is true, rather asking if I got the wrong impression.

When I look at the fake colour videos of the early 1900s I'm in awe. The connection to the past is so much more personal than in black and white. I would hazard a guess this is due to the ability to see subtle body language or facial e
