Who says they are for military use? You could totally use them for surveillance on home turf.

Knowing Subaru, it would likely be a head gasket issue. They will continue to run with bad head gaskets for a while, but it's a pain to keep topping up the oil and coolant.

So if synthetic diamonds are coming down in price, what other uses are there for them? They seem to be quite good at conducting heat. Could we use them in other areas where we are currently using other less expensive but less efficient al

Funny you mention this. When I was at university, a lab-mate of mine was working on automatic article summarizing. Essentially, you could point his thing at a long article, and it would try to pick out the important bits and generate quest

I like it! Like others have said, doing something for the sake of learning (or even just for the heck of it) isn't a lost endeavor. I've been toying around with the idea of doing something similar, but .Net based, mostly for my

I'm not saying I'm a paint drip person, but for me it has been either what I'm interested in or what the current job requires. I never expected that I'd learn so much about growing corn, but that's what a current w

That's awesome. I hadn't read that before, but it makes perfect sense to me. Now just to find out where the intersection of my skills are. Right now, I'm not entirely sure what that would be.

Regulations on larger trucks still aren't nearly as strict as they are for smaller (pickup) trucks. I'd be surprised if many of the big trucks are running DPF or urea injection. Although maybe that's just because I see more

I find it entertaining that they consider Ghostery and ad-blocker. I don't mind ads, but I do mind things that track me.

But are the costs in-line with what they should be? I'd think that suburban neighborhoods would require even more infrastructure (more pipes, more roads, more power poles), yet they don't seem to suffer the same high tax rates.

I suppose in a sense, it's easier to enforce policies through a library than it is to tell a dev "do this" or "don't do that'". I'm not a front-end developer either (so my JavaScript experience is a b

Would bricks or roads created from melted sand be stable enough? This is something I've thought about as well. There are parts of the world that have lots of sunlight and lots of sand. Imagine being able to 3D print roads and buildi

It's an interesting idea for a place like Australia - use solar power to desalinate water, and pump it inland. You could create an oasis in the middle of nowhere, sort of like Las Vegas.

I'd think an easier way to tame the existing stock market would lock all trades in for 90 days. It'd basically eliminate all this short term thinking.
