It is a little suspicious that Chrome is dragging it's feet, isn't it? I guess we'll see if they honour their promise by the end of the year.

I can hear it now "Of course not, why would an ad company sabotage itself?". Wikipedia says Chrome is set to support the header by the end of this year (2012). Wikipedia's source: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB100014240529702039608045772

This made it click for me. Thanks for explaining. Just to expand a bit on the vertex thing, in 2 dimensions length is sqrt(x^2 + y^2). For a square of side length 2 the distance from the center to each vertex is sqrt(1^2 + 1^2) or sqrt(2 *

"If NaCl were widely adopted 5 years ago, the web would be much less accessible to mobile devices." I don't agree with this. From what I've read NaCl isn't even getting auto-run by default. It is not trying to replace JS just sit alongside

Publicly they have stated that it's because they think JS is fast enough. I think that they have some private issues regarding a plugin controlled solely by their browser competitor who wants NaCl apps to be purchased through the Chrome Web

Although it's freeware, mari0 was made with LÖVE and it is pretty solid. http://stabyourself.net/mari0/ It made HN a while ago, link to discussion: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3665859

It's fast, dynamic and easy to embed in a C/C++ game for scripting. The language itself is very simple to learn too.

That poster looks like it's advertising a cheesy sci-fi movie. It creeps me out.

Equating killing someone to using an old OS is a terrible straw-man argument.

Do you mean "can't go without"? Except for your second sentence you are praising StackOverflow.

If the investigation happens that'll really suck for Instagram. Any chance they'll get the same offer in 6 months? I doubt it.

I agree. I kind of wish there was a middle ground between C and C++. C++ is bloated but C is not enough.

Default scene, Chrome 18.0.1025.168, Os X 1.6.8, Year old Macbook Pro Runs so slow I can barely drag the objects around. It looks great though, I mean the output is fantastic just not performant.

It's neat but it runs at about 5fps on my fairly new laptop. No-one is putting that in a game and I can't imagine how it'd work in an app. Still cool as a tech demo though.

The "Marching Cubes"[1] algorithm got patented ages ago and the patent was enforced. Some clever people had to come up with a similar solution called "Marching Tetrahedrons" to work around the patent. [1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marchi

I've been playing with something like this too. What I really want brought over from the Reddit Enhancement Suite is the ability to hide posts and to see updated comment counts.

Cross platform support is king for me right now which means Java and Javascript are getting a good run even though I don't much like the languages themselves. How easy is it to take a D program cross platform? Can it cross compile easily?

Mostly it's an annoyance at trying to find relevant web pages on the topic. In that regard the more prolific the software the more it can get away with a common word as a name. "Go" is the worst of the bunch by far. "Dart" is pretty bad, "J

I wouldn't want it integrated with current sites though. I'd like it self-hostable and with separate account signups. "Login with facebook/gmail" is ok but for some people that's a privacy barrier that they won't cross.

Interesting. I'm skeptical of the marketing because 14 weeks doesn't seem like long enough. I'm also skeptical of this experiment though. Sunchips specifies 14 weeks in a hot and active compost. A new compost pile (like in the experiment) w
