Yep, XFCE is great. It has its quirks and it's not as cool looking as the others but definitely lean and "good enough". I left Unity years ago, and the whole Amazon adware thing pushed me away for good (though I have no idea

I am a minority when I say that I don't want the Linux desktop to flourish? I've been using Linux since 1996. Though I also use Windows and OSX, I haven't been without a Linux machine for 20 years, and I've seen a lot. I

Delphi/Pascal ran the call center telephony system at a company I worked at, and it ran it well. It was very performant and stable, and ran things for around 14 years. Spent a while writing and modifying Delphi apps there, I really enj

The biggest issue with this for me is the signal to noise ratio is getting too hard to determine. I don't want to ignore a real human reaching out to me for something, but I often do. And for recruiting purposes it's really bad (I

Good call. I still prefer old fashioned text logging when possible, so you can catch database/service connectivity issues in the same spot.

I have had the same results as you did. It's a bit of a power hog, but extremely powerful. I think one of the best bets for this device is to embed it into a power supply block and put them into the outlets of your house. Seems kind of

I couldn't agree more. I think this push is twofold, exactly as you said. It's a way to rationalize Trumps unexpected win and get the populace to agree to more censorship. It's irresponsible at best.

I agree. It's slightly political here, but easily avoided and you rarely see attacks. I used to enjoy Google+ for the same reasons. The crowd was smarter, geekier and seemed a far cry from the Facebook swamp. Unfortunately in the last

Yep. Mostly the same. Hence the reason I question why FreeBSD might be worth it. The overlap of OSX and FreeBSD at the shell is quite great, but you can't run a lot of OSX apps on FreeBSD. I'd venture to guess you could run a lot

I really want to try this out. I was a heavy FreeBSD user for many years in the 2000s, and I drifted back into Linux. One thing I will say for FreeBSD, it's harder to get dialed in but once it is, it's very solid. I think with eno

Woah! Talk about a blast from the past. I used your program a ton back in the BBS/DOS days to show little stories I wrote and instructions and other silly things a high school geek would do. Thanks for your work!

It's questionable however for those who own the games they have ROMs for. If you bought and paid for them, but prefer to play them on the PC are you really harming them by playing it on a different media? I'm not taking a side, ju

A little confusing because this person is clearly not an idiot. We have all seen the educated idiot though. Big degree from fancy university we've all heard of, gets great positions without effort, produces nothing and screws up things

Sad, but a day everyone knew would come. I totally understand the lack of support for a dead architecture. It's not like you can just keep throwing software at these machines and run them fine anyway. I have a 2003-04 era Powerbook wit

It's not a potshot at the technology, but the market itself. I'm glad you're making that, but in Portland they are paying $15 an hour for PHP/MySQL/Jquery developers all day long. It's an over saturated market
