Building the hardware is an amazing project. You are suggesting that he should have designed a new architecture, core language, and operating system as well? Maybe he should just cure cancer too.

I have a feeling that the "Under 50 cent" result are from Adsense(mine is), and I wonder how much the larger sites are still able to bring in.

"The Shack" is also what we Amateur Radio operators call the room or area where we have all out radios. Ironically, Radio Shack was a huge Amateur Radio supplier, but shuttered that portion of their business a few years ago. 73 de N1JER

Bill I am going to give it a try too; but we won't know if it has worked for 2 days. Tomorrow(Tuesday EST) you'll wake up and eat, and that is the trigger to alter your sleep schedule. If you wake up naturally the following day (Wednesday E

One of the first concerns I have about a site is performance. Not scaling , but making sure the site itself operates very quickly. I have found that the path to getting a fast load time often leads to a reasonable level of scaling.

I think it is easy to think this way if you don't operate in many circles. Around MS and with Ballmer's associates, I am sure that there are very few Apple products around. But go into any Starbucks in NYC and you'll probably see more Mac's

Your point is precisely the example I mean. In *BSD the kernel, core, and packages/ports are all tied to one ABI at any time. Linux/GNU's system is more free from, and as a result can result in these problems.

Being a fan of the BSDs I have to point out that this type of decision would not happen there. The reason being that the kernel and userland are not separate entities; they are a system. If you update your kernel the userland has to update

The challenge of working on a project part-time is not a limit on time; it is follow through. For example if you can give 15 hours a week to a project at 100% you will be able to build something significant within a few months. If you don't

I often feel the same way because I shoot holes in 9 out of 10 of my own ideas. I also think that you should have some competitors as it demonstrates that what you are doing actually has a market. Keep working on ideas, and work on execut

Historically, they have released almost every two years anyway. Potato and Woody are the only exceptions (1 year and 3 years). So it makes sense to me to shift it. http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/project-history/ch-release...

I didn't say that it was illegal; I said it implied it. I'm not sure how much more firmly it can be said so I'll just repeat what you already pasted: _especially for an illegal or deceitful purpose_

By using the word 'collude' you are implying that AT&T and Apple are acting illicitly. While I do find their actions extremely objectionable I doubt any of this is illegal.

This was my experience as well. People always assume you are available if you don't have a conventional job. This can make time management a challenge.

This is a staggering figure, but shouldn't be a surprise when you look at the PC laptop offerings. The way I see it, there are so many offerings under $1,000 that I can't see why you would pay more for a PC. $800 or so will get you a near t

There is a practical reason for this depending on your algorithm. In mine it was much faster to change the last 5 characters instead of changing the entire string. I saw about a 50% performance improvement by creating a fixed set of 12 word
