Sounds pretty cool. My biggest problems with xargs is that I had constantly some weird edge cases, so I try to avoid it. As GNU parallel doesn't seem to be part of standard installations it would be an external dependency for a script,

Well, POSIX is pretty similar to what I mean, but it has a lot of low level stuff and I doubt that Microsoft has any ambitions to transform Windows into a POSIX compatible OS. I thought more about a higher level standard like adding Python,

@chubot: There is one use-case I come across every once in a while: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/356100/how-to-wait-in-ba... So whenever you want to do things in parallel there is probably a limit to the nu

Sounds pretty cool and everybody who had to learn bash scripting at some point understands why we need a sane language (my favorite are misplaced spaces in if statements...; Disclaimer: I do and love bash scripting but while the language ha

I am not sure but it looks to me, like someone wants us to donate bitcoin to his address so he can buy a GPU. But so far nobody seems to have donated: https://blockexplorer.com/address/1HKsanBZFom6WL4cGDtKPF9NTo...

So how about doing 20 push-ups and 30 sit-ups daily. Wouldn't that take even less time (just 2 minutes) and have an even higher effect? But sure, it would take a lot more discipline and will power as those aren't normal every day

What kind of UX model do you have in mind? Something like the vi modes (command, visual, input, etc.), something more GUI like with input mode by default and hotkeys or something completely different?

If I understand this correctly Xi and Alacritty are both using OpenGL to do the rendering and recently I heard that Rust supports compiling to Web Assembly. Sounds as if it should be easy to port those apps to the browser world (WebGL + Web

I have no problem with content moderation as long as it stays on a specific platform. I strongly object against any form of internet censoring (e.g. DNS manipulation), but deleting posts by the rules of a specific forum is okay for me. The

First of all, I didn't like that move and did not want to reward it. Next, I wanted to become independent. Now I can choose my DNS hoster or do it myself, but as long as I keep my domain the migration is easy. (And the custom domain lo

What do you mean with 'mail server'? Postfix? Dovecot? Running a Postfix on anything else than a dedicated server with a static IP is a pretty bad idea (half the internet will reject the emails you send). And to do all that just t

Regarding web mail: I am much happier with RainLoop [1] than I was with roundcube (better usability). If you are running a Nextcloud anyway, their mail app might be enough[2]. [1]: https://www.rainloop.net [2]: https:/

After dyndns.org decided to remove the free service, I was so pissed that I had to update all my devices including git checkouts etc. So I decided not to go with any free providers anymore and get my own domain instead. So far no regret.
