I had an interesting conversation with Martin van Creveld not long ago about fighter jets. Since he is one of the more famous military historians out there, he often gets asked for advice by senior defense personnel. Lots of European govern

I don't think anyone has pointed this out in a comment yet... What is better with very expensive but obsolete machinery than to people use their machinery to duke it out. Will things explode and sink "at great cost" ? Well yes, that's sort

Right on. I think as long as the quality of YC companies remains high, the presence of imitators will of course increase the value of the original, just as in higher ed. Startup incubators may in some ways be easier to replace than universi

Far better than I would have expected, given the various spreadsheets, etc. that I had seen floating around. I was a bit skeptical about YCombinator's growth and the ability to mentor new startups, but with numbers like these (esp. the 34/3

yeah, it sounded like he was interested in doing another YC startup in the future. Might ask him what kind of ideas he has poking around in his head. The long-term vision of Khan academy is also most interesting.

I just did a quick compare and it looks like VRBO serves the high-end of the market exclusively, with stuff in Manhattan starting around $180/nt, whereas Airbnb starting at $80/nt. That in and of itself should tell you that probably people

Looks good, there are a bunch of questions he answered in his reddit interview that you have up there that probably don't need to be there (e.g. Resig knows Alexis and briefly did a YCombinator startup in Cambridge). Reddit link here: http

A bit, but so much for me ended up being generic browser usage (I also use a web-based browser) that not all that much was useful. I think it might have been a bug in RescueTime that didn't always capture the information on the site visited
