I have a feeling the devs themselves aren't the issue and it probably sucks to have to be the fall guys (though some for sure might buy into all of Anthropic's schemes). But my best guess is they don't want to put a firm line

Sounds illegal to me and I'm sure they'd lose in court if you were incorrectly billed for things completely out of your control. My guess is this response was entirely written by an LLM that is instructed to never to offer refunds

I don't really disagree with you. I was just pointing out how the parent mentioned how "engineering" is changing when it already has changed many many times. Of course I want the best of the best who are top notch and rigorou

Engineer as a term has already drifted vastly since nobody in the field of "Software Engineering" is actually an Engineer if we go by a strict definitions. Engineers are accredited and in some countries even come with a title.

"Hard disagree because it doesn't affect me personally" There is already research literally showing that on average it is a net loss on focus, learning and critical thinking skills.

Its pretty clear that any benchmark that comes out will be outdated and exist within the training data with short measure. There will always be an incentive to optimize specifically for these benchmarks even if just for marketing material.

The thing is with smaller cheaper models it is very possible to simply take every file in a codebase, and prompt it asking for it to find vulnerabilities. You could even isolate it down to every function and create a harness that provides i

Measuring strictly in terms of money per unit time over a small enough timeframe is difficult because not all tasks directly result in immediately observed results. There are tasks worked on at large enterprises that have 5+ year horizons,

Claude and Codex pro/max subs aren't supposed to be used for commercial/enterprise development so its not really an option for execs in enterprise. They need to take into account API costs. At my F500 company execs are very w

Yes it is genuinely infuriating that this is the case for a company that for so long was praised for their superior UX. This along with the tons of other paper cuts they've slacked on is tarring their brand.
