WordPad was a quick and easy way to view/edit simple Word documents. When you double-clicked a .docx, WordPad would let you read it (albeit with some formatting issues). Now when you click a .docx on a fresh Windows install, you get a

Censoring foreign speech is also a slide towards totalitarianism... Imagine if the U.S. banned a Chinese book series because we were concerned it would "undermine our institutions and society". Does that sound like a free country?

Because the U.S. is not a country that censors its internet. Free access to the entire internet is a right Americans have always enjoyed. In my opinion, banning foreign websites/apps is just as bad as banning foreign literature.

Anyone who wants a GUI for a static site generator would be better served by a CMS. Static sites are really only loved in the developer community among people who think it’s crazy to run a whole backend to generate pages for unchanging blog

Meanwhile I modify my Firefox to be less secure (allow unsigned extensions) so I can continue using my beloved TabMixPlus. Once you taste multiple rows of tabs you’ll never go back.

Great submission. I love evolutionary hacks that solve problems with physical structure rather than chemicals. While trees do have a complex immune system, this probably does more for contagion. Social distancing for trees!
