Because it doesn’t work reliably on the surface pro 4. Yes, I have tried surface-linux, and no it doesn’t work well enough. When shutting down, the machine actually doesn’t shut down and my battery was dead the next morning. The boot proces

Currently, the switch from light to dark (or vice versa) is very disruptive. Imagine switching every few minutes just because some clouds pass by, to me that sounds terrible.

In all these pictures, the empty set is missing (-: . Of course you could argue that they’re also missing in Venn diagrams, but it’s common to just point on the outside.

They don’t store email addresses with password in the database. That would be way too risky. These are separate databases, so you can lookup your email address, and separately check a password.

Btw they are not storing more info along the email address, because that would be way too risky. Just imagine the HIBP database being leaked. Also, they don’t always know where your info has leaked. Some datasets are aggregates.

Aren’t all of these in a sense personal projects? If it works for the developer, that’s enough.

> In addition they cause other difficulties, like testability, i18n, l10n and accessability. Most TUIs don’t have these either. So I don’t see this as a difference between TUI/GUI. If you want to make a GUI and want to ignore these

… It is just a parser? Sure the parser is written very succinctly and that’s neat. But parser generators for other languages can do it similarly.

But wouldn’t the context also be useful, in written form, to colleagues?

There were cameras with FTP or WebDAV support, when connected to WiFi. I guess it’s just not really popular?

I use it on LAN without a problem (using mDNS). Sure it runs with self signed certificates, but that’s ok with me.

Do you also prefer a web-based file browser? My main use for Nextcloud is files and a desktop sync is crucial and integrates with the OS.

I still use my iPhone SE after 8 years and bought it for 170€. That’s under 25€ per year :-). (Ok I had the battery replaced for 30€ once.)

Basically every native app has a server behind it to harvest user data nowadays. So I don’t think it’s an argument for why PWAs won’t work.

How many apps rely on specific hardware or native code though? I can only think of my banking apps when using nfc.

People keep repeating this. But why is it people’s nature. Maybe it is learned, because everyone keeps repeating this phrase!

CryptPad uses end-to-end encryption for all documents. It has a very different use case than other collaborative office suites. You can of course still use it as a replacement, but in my experience opening documents takes a bit of time.

Immutable does not mean you have to copy the whole structure. You can store only the changes. This is how immutable data structures work in functional languages such as Haskell.

I do this by hand. In the whole process, cleaning up the TeX before submission is a small step. And I like to keep some comments, like explaining how some Tikz figures are made. Might help someone some day.

For higher arity there is a combinatorial explosion of all the possible permutations. But if you want to flip the 2nd and 3rd argument in Haskell it can be done by flip itself: flip23 foo = (\x -> flip (foo x))
