It is based on separation logic. And apparently this makes it scale at the size of Facebook. IIRC, the tool runs in every commit. Also, I think each tool finds different bugs, they have a different set of false positives/negatives. So

Thanks for the tip. I might actually do that at some point. I have a 2011 model and am still happy with it, but performance and less support for apps is getting annoying.

There is a reason to read Wikipedia via https: ISP can otherwise inject ads or even change the page. This has actually happened.

I very much agree to this. I almost always use “git add -p”.

I worked in Germany for two years and they use dots: 2021.11.13. I really like this and quickly adopted this syntax myself. (I guess they do it the other way around though: 13.11.2021.)

I think the hard part will be loops. What type would you then give to your integers? If you want it to be precise, the type checking might become undecidable. Too loose, and you end up with Int without any additional info.

Most cameras remove a black frame from photos with a long exposure. I’m not sure about mobile phone cameras though.

In maths it’s very common to refer to top and bottom in an ordered structure. I often define a TeX macro \bit as \perp.

Why not though? It reminds me of this project: https://nas.sr/قلب/ . It’s an Arabic programming language and apparently their script allows for elasticity, even within words. Perhaps the Latin alphabet just sucks for al

Exactly! It doesn’t really make sense to make recipes overly precise. It also depends on the tools available, the brand of oil, etc etc. Too many fluctuating variables.

For cooking times: I notice that in winter stuff takes longer to cook/fry (if I have the window open). This is of course because it’s simply colder in the kitchen! So it is very hard to make recipes precise, as they depend on all the t

Why is this compelling? Are competitions important in a pianists career? Shouldn’t be, IMO

It is important: I have very good memories of flash games. But those are now unplayable. (Well, I guess you can still run flash. But it doesn’t work out of the box.) The technology in which a game is made does matter a bit.

In the Netherlands we have waarneming.nl which currently has 76 million observations. This also includes other animals, but it’s mostly about birds.

That would be nice if websites support that. But in my experienced all PDF forms I fill in have to be printed and then signed and posted...

I have tried both the iPad Pro and MS surface pro 4. The latencies are the same, but the MS pens (by Wacom) are nicer, I find. They have a soft tip, which gives more friction. The screen is still glass-like though.

“Hundreds of years” is an exaggeration. The term vector originated in 1837 (according to Dutch Wikipedia). So I’m not so sure that “normal vector” is a term which is, say, a hundred years old.

There are a lot of “X in C++” posts here on HN as well. I don’t think it is really new or specific to rust. I also dislike the emphasise on the programming language, but many people seem to find it important.

But why not turn this around? Let the IDE autocomplete everything, so it’s easy for the writer (or even hide the named arguments). And have the named arguments in the source code, then all readers can read it no matter their IDE!

Agreed. Last thing you want is a Turing complete language for config. Imagine your config to be non terminating! (And no way to check that.)
