I was more so talking about Gnome 3. The titlebar fonts are generally okay, but the way fonts are rendered in web browsers on really any desktop environment in Linux versus how they're rendered in OS X or Windows are considerably worse. I'm

The clean, simpleness is good, but it's looking over the wrong pond for inspiration. Windows 7 has a great desktop experience, and it's whats keeping me from switching over to Linux. Gnome 3 is really close to it though, if not for the font

That's all a matter of perception though, no? Encryption is capable of storing data, therefore it can be used legitimately to do that. Just like most people use fans to cool people down during the summer, but people also use fans on large s

Most ads are put in a disruptive place, or put out of site. Advertising should be put in a disruptive place, but not in a disruptive way. Google's ads are kind of put to the side and there because they need to make money, not because it act

Advertising is bad because it doesn't positively contribute to the user experience. Advertisements should inform you of something that you either A) Actually want to buy or B) Want to know about. They don't do that.

These trends don't account for traffic increasing to the site (and therefore posts/comments) as time progresses. That makes this less useful.

There's XAML, which brings it down to just three languages (Batch, XAML, and C#), but I would not recommend Silverlight for web applications at the moment.

From what I've found on HN is that there is a lot of okay content, and occasionally there's awesome content. This awesome content is the stuff that sits on the top of the front page for a minimum of a day, and can sometimes last a few days.

This looks exciting, but at this point it seems like it's just a mailing list? The launch page was phrased in a way that makes it sound like as soon as you enter your email, you'll get access to the service.

That's the point. If you read the 2nd line it tells you that it's testing if it actually would work. That's why I'm not asking for karma.
