A 4 page CV would just be thrown away in the UK. 1 page, unless you have 20 years of experience - then maybe 2. A cover letter shouldn't have their logo on it.

Is Greenwald technical enough to understand the content? Or is it just going to be buzzwords that have no real technical meaning? The slice deck already looks like someone was presenting to non-technical management - why would they have put

I think I've tracked down this extraordinary claim to this 2007 DoD paper on the "Global Information Grid", where it states: Key target GIG technologies include: Very large scale data storage, delivery, and transmission tec

It is interesting, but it's a standard way of demonstrating normal modes, or the applications of eigenvectors. I would think most physics and engineering undergraduates have studied this. That's not to say you shouldn't watch

Your outrage is justified, but let's not just make up facts. Your link says the surveillance lasted for 10 minutes. Not 3 months.

I can't understand how you can be happy using ~84,000,000 clock cycles to solve that. Logic programming is a wonderful tool to know about, and armed with that knowledge you can adapt your programming style to the problem in question.

I think the best explanation is given here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=5844576 Prism is probably no more than a mail-merge program that will take your (i.e. NSA agent's) signed court order and convert it into

In the original Chinese article, the languages were actually mentioned. And the one we're discussing is C++. (And so as you point out, wrong.) It annoys me that this kind of vacuous article is posted. It reminds me of an old rant about

It's unclear what language that is. Could that be (well-defined) Java? Besides, it's also wrong because left shifting a signed integer "into the sign bit" is undefined.

This is the best explanation I've seen so far. It requires no one to lie. The Washington Post inferred too much from the evidence it had, but I'm thankful this debate has occurred. The NSA denies that it has broad access, the comp

As the author concedes, it's difficult to draw any conclusions when he rewrote the whole thing in Java rather than python. I am a bit surprised that 300 users costs him $10 a day though. There must surely be some giant inefficiencies in the

Well, not really. The fact that CLT applies to a wide variety of distributions is a much stronger, mysterious and astonishing fact than what is demonstrated here. It would be like demonstrating that you've cracked RSA with p = 7, q = 11.
