Have you actually read this document ( http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2011/pdf/2011-2841.pdf )? Because it gives clear guidelines applicable to new and existing patents. It DOES cover most issues raised against software patents. It CLEARLY p

What is key in patents are claims. I don't see that this patent passes the new pencil and paper test for process patentatibility. (see http://www.ims-expertservices.com/blog/2011/the-new-pencil-a... ). I think they are just trying to scare

Two answers to your post: i) Here is a recent analysis of existing evidence: http://hivskeptic.wordpress.com/2008/01/15/hiv-has-never-bee... . ii) A prize of $100.000 "was officially offered to anybody who would demonstrate HIV particles i

Many in the scientific community claim there is no evidence HIV is actually causing AIDS. Hence, even if this is a successful vaccine, there is no guarantee it will protect from AIDS.

"(...) the court focused on prior case law holding that mental processes standing alone are not patentable." I hope judges will support those statements more and more. Really good news.

Those are not 'lies of' business schools. Those are false beliefs about business schools, which is different.

Absolutely, authentication is not bullet-proof. That's why certificate authorities have to invalidate certificates from time-to-time.

No, that is not exactly true. If you use SSL, there will be authentication. Eve-in-the-middle cannot craft certificates or feed the browser with her fake certificates. No 3rd party HTML/Javascript/whatever code can change this. So there is

"(...) Oracle must be aware that some of the unaddressed criticisms seem, at least on one reading, to have merit, so it should proceed with caution (...)" - It's with judges like these that we could sort the patent mess.

Cannot agree more with 'hire effective teams over individuals'. And, when having to chose between high competence meeting minimal expectations on team spirit/communication/people skills versus the other way round, ALWAYS choose the former.

Well, it does not compile !!! There is no documentation about dependencies... This project is far from operational and mature !!! I'd really rather that people did not deliver half-ass projects and loose people's time...

Looks interesting, but why isn't there a .jar to download or a maven reference to use this project? Moreover, there is no documentation explaining how to activate/disactivate contracts... Sorry, but it seems like half-ass delivery to me !!!

This looks like classical negotiation tactics from people knowing how to play hardball. They try to take control of the situation by setting limits to the offer. YOU DON'T HAVE TO ACCEPT THESE LIMITS !!! THIS IS A CLASSICAL NEGOTIATION TRAP

I am no lawyer, but Google is raising some valid points, especially on the 'patentability' of some of Oracle's inventions. It's no grasping at straws. Oracle has to close some gaps here. It ain't going to be easy. Devil (and pounding capaci
