It's not always romance related, sometimes it's just a promise of massive crypto investment returns. "Pig butchering" is more apt as the long con is like fattening up an animal before slaughter.

IMO fuel taxes should be higher if it means more people and companies buy hybrids and EVs.

Anyone else find it hilarious that snake bites follow the logic of "expose yourself to just a little deadly poison to gain immunity"?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the usual advice in the C/C++ world is just grab the source code of any libraries you want and build them yourself (or use built-in OS libs). This is not great if you have a lot of dependencies.

Back in the day repositories had 'maintainers' who reviewed packages before they became included. I guess no one really cares in the web dev world; it's a free-for-all.

Anyone else feel like AI is a trap for developers? I feel like I'm alone in the opinion it decreases competence. I guess I'm a mid-level dev (5 YOE at one company) and I tend to avoid it.

I feel you. I have some friends with depression and/or anxiety and sometimes the emotional dumping they do on me is hard to deal with. They are in counseling and I'm doing my best to help them and be a good listener.

Real talk, the helicopter was operating night VFR, right? How is this safe when the jet is moving extremely fast relative to the chopper and the only separation is a visual reference to some navigation lights?
