We're 100+ people and have one first thing every Monday morning. There's a set agenda that is usually speedily read through by a random "rank and file" member with executives usually only chiming in to a) clarify a point

Yeah, the DMV is probably the most difficult and time consuming part about getting a license in this US.

Thanks for the reply. I know that in the 70s (I was born in 83 so only know from history) the oil crisis occurred but I've never really grasped the that one moment in time (vs any of the other tumultuous ones in the 20th century) has l

It also keeps people working longer than maybe they want to. I've heard from several folks in one of our more open areas (15-20 people) that it's awkward to leave at the usual end of shift time because they have to walk across a r

Question regarding "averting a Detroit outcome": What was SF (and SV) like after the Dotcom crash? I was in high school at the time on the East Coast and haven't really heard any first-hand accounts of what the cityscape was

I hate the news posted here and elsewhere about Lyft's struggles. I've found their drivers to be far friendlier and, afaik, their business practices far less sketchy than Uber in the past.

Have been here for 7 years and also see the split between transplants and those that grew up here and are just used to horrendous commutes. I drive though and wish I didn't. The start to my day has been far less stressful when taking a

It would probably never work but if someone is leaving a role, they're probably the best person to write the job description. I used to say a supervisor instead of HR, but then realized that a lot of supervisors (or equivalent) had a l

As well as denser cities. In LA, it's daily. Each small patch of grass between sidewalk and street cut or weedwhacked and the blower comes out even if a broom would be quieter and only slightly less efficient.

Same in LA. A lot of crew t-shirts and other stuff given out at the end of production. And the recently-graduated college students? College t-shirts (sometimes sweatshirts in our 'winter').

Like what? It's an at-will state so you can leave without notice and be laid off without notice. It seems that would cover the majority of circumstances and protect both employee and employer, for better or worse.
