It's crazy how amd still hasn't fixed their long long term driver issues. It's been a weak point for years and still is bad. I'm look at their new cards but holding off because people are saying the only way to avoid cra

In no way trying to bring politics or anything into this. Just a neat fact. Jim's brother-in-law is Jordan Peterson. Yup, that Jordan Peterson. Small worldish thing I guess?

Why are we building data centers in the desert? From an efficiency perspective, it just seems like a comically bad idea.

The article has a pretty clear "main story ->side info -> main story -> side info" structure. So I just read the main story parts and thought it was a pretty good read.

IIRC we don't even have masks that can really take EUV, the mask is destroyed after each exposure.

Twitch is a train wreck of a site. I'm baffled about how amazon lets it run like that. It's not like they don't have the resources to fix it.

Occasionally at some friends house we'll watch TV. I don't know how the hell they bear it. It seems to have gone to a 5 minutes of TV, 5 minutes of ads model. And to think they are paying $120 a month for that...

Voltage always kills. It's always voltage. Amps are a side effect of the thing that is killing you - volts. The only time a voltage sufficient enough to kill you, doest kill you, is when it is only present for an extremely small amount

Everybody here is missing why this game became so popular, and it's very common trap with the game. Its the reason why the game has also been so polarizing. I've played the game steadily for over a year now, so I have a bit of a g

Gays might have the choice not to live a gay lifestyle, but I don't think you will find any gay guys who would say they have the choice not to be attracted to men. Assuming you're a straight male, are you able to look at a beautif

Ehhh, unfortunately I don't think it is that clear cut. Otherwise you're left arguing that gays either made a choice to be gay or were raised to be gay.

I don't have an answer, because the alternative is shitty men taking advantage of the situation and preying on women, and in turn women avoiding men. Don't mistake my comment as calling woman liars or defending sexual misconduct o

That's not the issue and not the cause of this. The problem is the extreme power imbalance, where any woman you interact with can snap her fingers and destroy your life/career. Let me put it this way: It's incredibly rare tha

There are also many people who will fabricate a story or stretch the truth for their own gain. There isn't a clear cut answer to this problem.

Warm white LEDs still have about 30% of the blue light emission that cool white LEDs have. I really think the article is talking about cool white primarily though.

Its the blue light, when I worked with "hard" blue LEDs (~460nm), I had to wear special glasses or I could literally feel my retinas melting. Just stick with warm white and you'll be good. Warm white still emits a fair amount

LEDs themselves are very intolerant of voltage (well really current fluctuations, semi-conductors are weird), but that isn't an issue because the driver deals with that and large swings will kill the driver or kill the driver and LED.

Mind you LED life span is usually rated to ~75% brightness instead of complete failure like other bulbs.

I call them retina burners. A new supermarket by me installed all LEDs for the parking lot, and used warm white ones. You wouldn't even be able to tell they aren't incandescent without looking. I really hope more word gets out to

I'm not sure where the OP is coming from because any halfway decent LED driver will accept a wide range of voltages, far more than the fluctuations seen on public lines.

In all honesty, good capacitors. Good caps are expensive, and cheap alternatives are plentiful. Nine out of ten off the shelf LED drivers have cheap ass chinese caps in them. You also need good overall thermal design, which means good heats

Sort of, but not really. LEDs can easily be wired in parallel as long as you use resistors to balance them. If you dial in the voltage real tight you can get away with minimal losses in the resistors. If you are really fancy you can use tra

Make sure to double check any CAD models you pull off sites like this. I learned a very lengthy and expensive lesson trusting something as simple as a 3 pin SOT23 transistor.

I think the problem is that cutting edge chip fabs are insanely expensive. Like $10-$20 billion dollar range. It's also ridden with specialty, so the risk of (very) expensive set backs and fuck ups is much higher for new entrants to
