De gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum. I prefer the consistent design language which is harder to do with the less abstract designs from earlier Mac days.

I think you misunderstood my earlier point. I mean for most EU or Canadian citizens, the odds of being negative about Xi having actual impact are near 0 (not many travel to China), whilst many do travel to the US.. and rely on US tech.

Yeah, I sometimes miss the more simple IC life. Office politics is a more of a problem in management, but also dealing with humans all the time is just more messy.

Depends on the sources, earlier historical writing is definitely like that, whilst more modern writing often has a more nuanced approach. “histoire vue d'en bas et non d'en haut”

NK and China are not at the same level lol - NK is almost an inescapable dictatorship, with routine mistreatment and indoctrination. If that were true, you can claim the current US is 1930s Nazi Germany, with a right wing government using m

Both are equally bad in theory. But my point is that (currently) the US would, in practice, negatively impact Canadians and EU more.

Good. People are sometimes negative or worried about China, with how they spy on people etc. But for most of the western world, the real danger is US and not China. Just think - Canadian, Europeans etc are more likely to go on business trav

Thinking more than a week out is already a challenge for the current administration. A month would be a Herculean task.

I’m still on xfce, but haven’t used KDE in more than 10 years. Hearing lots of good things about it lately so maybe it’s time to give it another shot.

Nail on the head. I know that exercise will make me feel better, but during a period of depression/grief I could not even get out the house.

To be charitable to both the article and the OP - his advice of “hard work over time” is still good advice. I think many people tend to get stuck in premature optimization, which can take the fun away and thus you end up quitting. I did tha

Thanks for clarifying some of your points. I agree with you that the methods (like ID uploads and face recognition) aren’t the best. But I’m not sure if there are viable alternatives.

5.2 is good. But at this point every few months company A trumps company B with a new “SOTA” (for some definition of SOTA). OpenAI has no real moat. Anthropic is focusing on developers as a clear target, and Gemini has the backing of Google

Good, social media should be considered a harmful substance. Even for adults it’s probably a bad thing.

I mean that gives us another ~18k years to adapt so we’ll be fine :) I wonder what Meta their play would actually be though. Do they have any successful GenAI products yet? I don’t use their social media apps so not sure how integrated that

I strongly agree with the author to be honest. I can see the various perspectives in the comments here. In my view, some people care about shipping products (i.e, seeing their idea come to life). Some people enjoy solving the problems more

Dungeon Crawler Carl has been on my TBR for some time. But your review saying it’s like Always Sunny made me want to read that next. I love the dark humour in that series.

The embodiment of “don’t judge a book by its cover” lol. IMO it’s cleaner to have the cover and then click into to read the description. But I do see your point, more information density can improve the overall UX flow.

In general what you are saying makes sense. But there are specific counter examples, such as Crysis in 2008 or CyberPunk 2077 some years ago. Both didn’t run great on the “average consumer hardware”. But I’ll admit this is cherry picking fr

I'm not optimistic that this would be the outcome. You likely will just have poor running software instead. After all, a significant part of the world is already running lower powered devices on terrible connection speeds (such as many

+1. Can’t believe how they held amazing IPs and then milked them to death while lowering the quality game over game. Whether it’s far cry or assassin’s creed, all the later iterations are worse than the series start.
