My wife got a news article pop up because it included a Getty licensed stock image that was from a location and time she had physically been present at. The article itself was unappealing in any other way.

That was as long and rambly as a country drive. The author covers lots of incidental details like segregation and women owning the roadside diners. I was reading with an eye for shortcomings and enjoyed the article. Well written!

If there's someone very interested in archiving a given set of information I'm all for it. Where I think we collectively have an issue is when we're super into someone else archiving it. And that they then need to figure ou

Linkedin is a marketing platform where you are the product. Use it as a tool if you need to but try not to forget that. If you feel something's horrible there it's likely by design and within that context. (edit: you're to yo

Correct. 2-1, 3-1, then 2-1 early on. So there's a 12 to 1 ratio at play there. Initial day's closing was 18$.

The creator of a thing can decide to remove their copy of it and not license it further. Someone else can pay for a token that signifies... something. At the very least, that they've purchased a token. I'm not sure what more. Alth

Was it the invention of the web forum? I don't recall how the WELL was originally implemented.

Huh, from the headline I was thinking it was intentional! Nothing but marketing fluff in the newsfeed yet, still waiting on an article that's not walled in Swedish(?).

Good question. I think my perception is that finding and using them is a high bar of entry. And the suspicion that Google doesn't do even a cursory examination would put me off of using anything that isn't independently vetted.

I'm still amazed that people install (outside of very specific development or page manipulation use cases) Chrome extensions. Are these more common on Chromebooks or some other platform I don't regularly use?

Not on Amazon. They do make actual no-sale agreements with manufacturers (looking at you, Warner Media) to not sell used product and boot anyone who tries. Which, ah, is great right until they're a near monopoly. But this looks more li

Nice writeup! It's always neat to see hardware stacking up. Good work on your design if efficiency wasn't explicitly a goal (even if it was, I guess). The lower power consumption on newer hardware's probably down to raw powe
